Thanks Cal,
Now I just need to decide if I make my second car an M05 swb, M05Ra or convert it to M03. Decisions, Decisions. |
my 2cents, ...i struggled w/ the M05 SWB ..I tried it for 2 seasons, switched to long wheel base and all my problems were solved. ...even on tight tracks the long wheel base is my preferred setup. At our last race 2 of the top 3 drivers (of which I was one) ran long wheelbase.

Personally I'd just put an M05v2 chassis on it, a rear sway bar and a decent servo saver and an oil diff.

I want to be able to run a Mini Cooper body and I like the challenge of trying to make it work well. I too like the Mini body, -I think it would be fun if everyone had to run that body ...otherwise it becomes really really difficult to compete against the lower CG bodies and longer wheelbase setups. But my hats off to you for keeping the dream alive! |
Ok I found the ek HPI civic body for 65 bucks shipped from the UK. Ordering friday!!! RS1 body should be here next week and I'm starting the body work! So glad I found the civic body. Looks like a damn good body!

$65?! Save your money, unless you're building a shelf queen.
Sorry. I'm a racer. Bodies are disposable. http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...psijjp3mhj.jpg http://i174.photobucket.com/albums/w...psijethbu5.jpg Second was a bulk/club order I did a few years ago. Bought enough for myself that I've still got at least one on the shelf and I crash A LOT. |
Damn that's a lot of bodies lol! I want to make that one nice and maybe a garage peice I won't lie. Rc cars look good in garages....I may make a shelf queen monkey lol.
I just installed the 3 racing steering linkage and was impressed with the kit overall. It seems not to cheap and might be sturdy enough to not die. Not bad at all for 20 bucks. Now I just need the long servo rod to make it easier to adjust and I'll be good. I have these aluminum toe links to make adjusting the toe easier too. |
My shelf queens all get raced eventually. I can't help myself.
|
Tamiya's Rover Mini bodies are very cool!! :D
Check out ABC bodies too. They have some cool ones. M-chassis is all about fun. |

Monkey what kind of bodies are those?

They look like Blitz bodies.

speaking of bodies and longevity ..
...I have been able to get a full season out of each body (March - October). I usually paint up a new set for all the cars I race prior to our first race, ...then replace the following year. For me, I paint my car to both look nice, but also so I can see it easily and so it stands out from the others. I always race in a green theme, -this year using a combo of fluorescent green + fluorescent yellow w/ black trim. Its bright, but it works. |
Hey Eric is the wing a style peice or does it help with down force? I would think in a mini it's for show but it looks nice regardless. Nice job!
|
you know I always assumed that the wing helped w/ downforce. I haven't tested driving it w/o ...but when the tech people were weighing my car on the scale, the scale kept showing different values ...we figured out it was the wing that was lifting the entire car when the breeze picked up. So it definitely has an effect. I would suspect it helps.
