...but is it my imagination or does that display stand say M06?
|
Looks like it but none of the parts say M06 under them. That'd be sweet.

A few questions -
I've just updated my M05 with 4 new corners. It was made from the leftover M05>Xevo conversion, so it was an M05 chassis, assembled with suspension from an M03, and hence, no rear toe-in uprights, and Pre-M03M front knuckles. I've fitted suspension parts (including the rear uprights) from an M04, but there were no markings on them to say how much toe-in there should have been (or left/right dfferentials). Its deffo toed inwards now, but is it 2deg? And, with the new parts fitted, I'm wondering about the ballstuds that connect the steering turnbuckles to the front knuckles. I'm still using the old M03-style long neck version instead of shorter ones used by everyone else it seems (and the original kit setting). Any going from my TC days, whats the difference of having the steering links at an angle, compared to having them closer to horizontal? I remember something about bump-steer being affected, but can't recall what means what. Finally, any chance of some updates to the M05 section please Tony? Some running reports, M05 tips, ideas to build a racey car like the M03 section? |
It's in the pipeline Gaz. The hold-up has been that I havent actually raced myself since May 30 last year... Yep in 4 days time it'll be a year!
The other hold-up is that we're not actually all that fond of the M05, and until we can work out exactly why it's so damn weird (relative to the M03) we're reluctant to publish too much more on it. I'm hoping to start an M05 weekly blog thingie in the next couple of weeks. Starting from bog stock and experimenting along the way - like most people would do themselves. So we can see what works, and what doesn't. |
Thats interesting, because on this side of the world, we can't get enough of the M05! Everyone at the two local clubs (one carpet, one concrete) that have switched over, have gone quicker. I'm just learning the foilbles of the chassis for the first time (I've only ran mine for 3 or 4 meetings now), and I'm just getting my head around it :ha:
One thing I've noticed, is a mate of mine has his M05 cornering very low and flat, it doesn't roll at all (not sure the exact settings) and its quicker round a lap than mine running a fair bit softer. But, I've driven his car and you have to muller it, be really aggressive or it just doesn't work at all and ends up understeering. Mine is mostly docile and simple to drive, just not.....quick. I've struggled with the rear breaking loose (hopefully solved with the toe-in rear uprights), I just have to find some off-power steering now. |
Bodies for M03 can go on M05 right ? I'm new to M-chassis so excuse me ;)
|
Yes, no need to even drill new mounting holes :D
Some M05 bodies won't fit the M03 though because of the low nose of the M05. |

Also can an M05 Pro handle an 17T brushed motor out of the box ?

+1. Big motors in a mini are a bit of a waste of time. You'll just end up tearing the gearbox and drivetrain apart.
|
I use the Traxxas Stinger 20 turn motor and it's quite fast, but still driveable.
|
You could run powerful motors if you take advantage of TH EXPO on your transmitter...it helps A LOT to get the power down.

Probably because the tyres just wheelspin untill you build up speed. I did have issue with the ball diff & 9T, kept pulling either left or right under power. Had to go back to the standard diff. |
