I have the new TRF mini dampers and would also like some info on where I can get the spring sets for them. It's the TRF mini big bore dampers. Also running a 3racing gear diff. Seems top end is kind of low, any thoughts? Just started with this class haven't raced yet. Owned a mini back in the day and loved it though. Running the Honda CRX body.

Turn your timing all the way up, test, check temps.

Need more? Novak Vulcan 21.5, timing turned past the timing marks. There are some blazing fast Minis running Novaks at Tamiya America every Saturday:D

Sakadachi,
-sorry your CR'r experience wasn't great. I thought the car had potential and had always hoped that HPI would have released a V2 w/ improvements. In any case, I am not a fan of HPI's and won't purchase anything from them again either.

Thanks, eR1c. No problem though, live and learn for me. :D

Do any of you guys know if there's single part number for the servo saver that comes with the M05?

Tim K 01-13-2016 11:44 PM

That looks like the hi-torque servo saver, no.51000 in black or 50473 in white.

Butler205 01-14-2016 04:15 AM

I retired my M05 from racing and moved over to FF03's. I was gonna sell, but I am weirdly attached to it.

Anyways, I have moved completely away from NiMH since I last used it and all my lipos are square.

If I bought the M05 V2 A parts can I convert it or is more required?

Yeah, I search "high torque servo saver" as well. It's the same item as the one that comes with the V2. I use a quite a bit of them on my cars. That or the Kimborough. Both very good.

Yes, but getting the motor plate as well will give you full benefit of the redesign.

Thanks. I love Kimbrough, but I'm get tired of redrilling them to fit. (Done this many, many times) looking to go to the high torque Tamiya version, looks like I'll need to buy the M03 horn separately.

Warning on the M03 aluminum horns. I remember grandpa stating there is play. What I did was just added an extension I made using the factory M03 horn. Works perfectly.

sorry if this was already discussed ...there is a mazda miata mx5 body available for the Tamiya M chassis.

http://www.tamiyausa.com/items/radio...zda-mx-5-51583

anyone know if this is S M or L wheelbase?
surprisingly the Tamiya site page does't specify (or that I can find).

eR1c 01-15-2016 09:48 AM

-actually after seeing some photos of this body on Google I am not that interested in it. :)

It'll have he same weaknesses as the alloy version on the M05. I can deal with that. I'm trying one of the ancient, all plastic versions n Sunday, just for a laugh. Plus it's the only one I've got that's long enough to create proper Ackerman.

OSherman 01-15-2016 10:52 AM

you really should see this body in person before passing judgement.. i made the same mistake.

considering building another mini just for this body :)

I do not know the M03's aluminum servo horn, but the V2 aluminum servo has no play.

Actually, if you trim the servo horn base where the springs attach to to match the M03 servo horn's spring stop width, I'm sure they work fine. I was just too lazy to explain this to some folks because people tend to think I'm a faking idiot here. I just speak from actual experience.

monkeyracing 01-15-2016 11:24 AM

I've found the high torque savers in the 05s can tend to get jammed to one side or the other on impacts. Never experienced much play. But, I'll look at the fitment when I get my parts in and let you know. I haven't seen any change in the servo saver between v1 and v2 versions of the car, but maybe there was something tweaked.

Ahh, yes, I do apply some bearing oil on the springs and inside the cover piece during assembly. People tend to use it dry and it can seize after some use.

The high torque servo saver is the same one that came with my old Idemitsu Motion Civic FF touring car.
