you really should see this body in person before passing judgement.. i made the same mistake.

considering building another mini just for this body
really? ...hmm, okay I take your word for it. I won't pass judgement quite yet. I'll see if I can see more photos/or at the hobby store ...hoping to make it to the track next week.

Which chassis would you use this 225mm body on? :)

At one point I was thinking about reviving my M04M.. but not sure, RWD can be a pain unless on high traction surface running foam.

It will fit anything (Tamiya says M05/M06) but would probably be a little wonky on an M03 because of the high servo position.

The key to making the 04 work is a very loose diff and lots of droop. Sticky tires help, too. The stock gear diff has a tendency to seize after a time if using a brushless motor. They'll last forever with a silver can, though.

it just looked interesting to me, ...but i am going to stick w/ the JCW body on the Mini I race. I do need a new body soon as mine is a bit munched up from the last season. I'll get a few more practices in w/ it, then replace for the start of the new season (March).

Yeah, I'd prefer mounting the Miata body on a RWD chassis, if not 4WD.
Tamiya's idea of mounting it on a FWD chassis is just wrong to me. :weird:

Thanks for the input on the M04 setup. I should maybe try the M-Rage dampers on it and see how it goes. I have a bunch of S-Grips left over from the Shimizu 55mm setup I recently did on most of my m-chassis, and yeah, will only run silver can on mine as I want the smoothness coming out of turns.

I see. :) The real car is pretty nice. It's on my short list of cars to maybe buy next season actually.

Nice choice!
There is a guy in our area who has one of these:

Wow!

I hear Mazda will be showcasing the hard tops for the new Miata's at the LA Autoshow this year. :) But I want the canvas top for the more committed look, Club trim, and 6MT. Will do springs and maybe wheels. But enough talk about the real Mazda, I guess. :D

Tamiya should make an accurate fwd mini, and release a lexan body for a 1999 Chevy Cavalier.

monkeyracing 01-16-2016 01:58 AM

They'd all have to be painted an awful shade of purple, have parts falling off and that weird, damp odour all Cavaliers had, even when new.

I drove my BSR M-Rage back to back with my M-Four today. Night and day difference as far as precision driving. I know the M-Four costs at least 3x the M-Rage, but hands-down a MUCH nicer driving car that lasts 500+ runs with no broken or worn out parts (besides the motor which was replaced).

The motor orientation and placement alone make a huge difference. Same servo, receiver, tires, body used, but battery size and motors are different. M-Four has a significantly faster motor, yet very stable.

Finally got this piece of crap to drive decently. Re-configured the electronics, front suspension, and brushed motor now.

Can't help but notice there aren't any pics of the newest version of the 05 online yet. Are we tired of special editions?

Tamiya Mx5

Still waiting with interest to see if anyone fits the new Tamiya Mx5 body on to the M03 chassis. My HPI version required butchering of the M03, something I care not to repeat ;)

Cheers
Dave

Hint for mounting low slung shells. Using m03 front body mounts at the rear makes things easy. Still hard to get that on an 03 though.
