Funked1: Try some toe out. Sounds like the outside front is tucking under.

.....The Super Slicks are fairly sticky, but smaller (55mm). You'll lose a chunk of top speed with them.
Monkey,
I am quoting from a comment you made about a 2,500 posts back on this thread 2 years ago! -BUT, i found the your post via google search and gave me an aha moment. ...I have been racking my brain trying to figure out why the top speed of my Mini is a bit slower than the top 2 guys at my track. I got 3rd overall, but just figured out that they run S-Grips and I've been running slicks. I do notice I have better acceleration, but that only helps at the gun/start.

Going to go back to treaded tires for the next race!

I'am considering, -just considering converting my M05 to an M05 V2.

I've read through most of the posts, yet wanted to get the consensus on a few questions:

1) Is the M05 v2 better than the M05 in terms of handling and performance? -is it worth converting to a v2? (My M05 is pretty dialed in, weight is at 1310 -so very close to the 1300 mark). From what I can tell the big difference is weight balance and the ability to use a square pack?

2) If I wanted to convert my M05 to an M05 V2, for weight balance would all I need is the V2 parts A (square battery chassis)? Or is there further adjustment needed? I've heard some discussion about the motor mounts not lining up correctly???

------
Thanks, trying to determine if it's worth the effort to convert to the V2?

Since I have both I can confirm that the V2 handles much better vs the M05 even with similar parts like CVA Super Mini dampers, same grippy D60 tires, wheels, inserts, same servo, same receiver, fairly similar Tamiya ESC, same silver cans, same steering aluminium hopups, same heavy duty servo saver, etc.

They appear to be similar visually, but they are very different in how they drive from the weight distribution.

But if your M05 is driving well, it may not be worth the conversion.
Honestly I like my M05 the way it runs because it is different from my V2.

M05 runs more similar to the M03 (which I also have) in character as in still kind of rough, unfinished.
V2 runs similar to TC's imho where it drives more dialed and refined.

If you asked me, a rougher unfinished car is more fun to drive than a completely refined car as your driving inputs matter a lot more.

But if it's for racing, then you'll probably want the V2's refined character where the purpose is to win.

Thank you Sakadachi,

hmmm, tough to decide!
Is it just the chassis that needs to be replaced? Or do would I need to get other parts as well? Yes, this is for racing. There are a lot of new V2's at our club.

I'll probably stick w/ my M05 for at least the next race and see how I do.

I still race my M05 against several newer V2's and regularly win. Better yet, my M05 is stock except for shocks and a ball diff (which is the way it came when I bought it used). This is probably due somewhat to a big fish/small pond scenario, though.

Thanks Howardcano,

Yeah, we have a pretty competitive group w/ some pretty decent drivers.
I am going to stick w/ my M05 V1 ...I don't see enough of a competitive advantage that I need to switch.

You're welcome eR1c!

The lower arms are different (V2 is one piece and has a droop set screw each corner), the rear upper arms are different as well. I made my own upper camber rods for my M05 with turnbuckles to dial out some of the negative camber the car comes with. You can source the lower arms, I have an extra set in my parts bin.

I enjoy driving both cars, but if it was for competition, I would definitely take my V2.

Now I also want the TA05 M-Four. That is my future project this Fall.

BTW, what are your guys's thoughts on the iCharger 306B?
The largest capacity 2S Lipo I will probably run is 5000mAh. would it be overkill?

I have a 25A power supply from ancient times I currently use on my KOPropo BK212

Thanks Sakadachi,
appreciate the feedback/help.

Not familiar w/ that charger. I use a Dynamite charger and love it.

I've got one! It's incredibly versatile, compact, has tons of features, 30a per channel, but honestly, it's way too much if you're running 2 cell lipos in mini or touring classes and charging at 1s.

I got mine, because I love my 206b so much. Given perspective, purchasing a second 206b would have been much more economical. Even buying a pair of 206 or 106 chargers would be more economical and saved space in the pit bag, as well.

It's an awesome piece of kit and the color screen is neat, but the single channel units from iCharger are beautifully engineered and are among the best chargers in the world.

That said, be sure to buy from Progressive RC or Buddy RC. I wouldn't trust Hobbyking to be carrying 100% genuine product.

+1 on the charger. The other great feature is the IR of each cell to tell you how well your pack is. And personally the ability to charge a pack in 6 minutes is worth it for me. And this is only charging at 20A.

That is a great feature. My 206b has it as well.
