Top ten reasons to run VTA at your track:

1. VTA without timing provides the closest racing I've ever experienced.
2. Since VTA is a touring car class, your racers can still use the same chassis to travel elsewhere for trophy races, as opposed to changing to Mini Coopers which would pigeon hole your track as being just a Mini Cooper track.
3. VTA is cheap because tire wear is minimal without timing advances.
4. VTA is a good draw for newbie dads because they recognize the bodies, and they would buy their kids a RCGT car because the kids recognize the bodies from Forsa or GT.
5. And obviously, chicks dig VTA, but everybody knows that!
6. You can use an older chassis and still be very competitive.
7. You can use all your old non-boosted ESCs in VTA.
8. You're not out of place making engine noises on the drivers stand.

we had a great time at the last VTA race of the season. I have to say, even though its gets more rubbin is racing with lots of cars (or, maybe punting is a better word! ) especially when you are the loan police car, I had a blast.

By the way, someone had posted a message of what are common settings they are seeing on there TC3s for setup, like parallel long links, leaning shocks in, etc. Does that sound about right for VTA?

What a great list !!!! How many other classes can boast these kind of responses. Thanks All.....This would make a great list to put on flyers as handouts when we do car shows and other special events. We may have to say " Women" just to be PC though. Don't want to piss off Mama cause when Mama isn't happy.....ain't nobody happy !!
After our club racing yesterday I made the decision to move toward VTA again. A nice slow transition from rcgt so that by September everybody should be on board using the new motors/esc's. in the meantime, wheels and tires to get and painting of new bodies to do !!
Keep up the good work and all the enthusiasm folks !!!! It's working.

I picked up a TC4 from "Swen" and am going to run VTA along with 17.5 TC...

I am running a 21.5 Ballistic and a Sphere Comp ESC...

Can anyone give me a ballpark FDR for a large, outdoor asphalt, flowing track?

Just want to get close, no heat!!

Current rules limit FDR to 4.2 (4.21 - ok; 4.19 - not ok), which should be good for a large flowing track. I understand that the FDR rule will go away after 25.5 rule kicks in in September. You might want to check locally, but many places restrict the Sphere Comp to profile 6 or less.

+1...most tracks are slowing the cars down by limiting profiles or no boost/turbo/adv time...and its even up the cars alot

Cool. The track I race at (Fantasy World, Tacoma, WA) is actually running Silvercan this year.. Me and a handful of guys and gals are going "outlaw" with the 21.5.

The 25.5 was compared at another local program (SeattleRCRacers.com) and the report was the silvercans and 25.5 were right there with each other..FYsI..

I am thinking we will be going with the 21.5s next season since quite a few have been running them at other tracks...

the 21.5's will work great ...just keep the esc's w/o boost/turbo ect...good luck

I also run the TC4, I use an 81 spur and it allows me just about any gear I want (need). An 81/45 would put you at a 4.5 FDR which would be a great place to start, also no mods are needed to run this combo on the TC4.
