John used his Petty-inspired Pegasus Mustang in the Main. It was white with red trim, and gold lettering I believe?

And Ben runs a Losi JRXS Type R

Any chance of including Speedo and Battery choices to that Top 10?

I'm also guessing those are all 21.5 powertrains?

I had an LRP Sphere with an SMC 5000. Brian Smith's battery was a Team Checkpoint 4900, but I'm not sure on his ESC. Greg Cobb was running a Tekin RS.

Brad and Kevin both ran IP 5000's.

That is correct....I ran the GT2.0 LPF Speedpassion....and we both ran the NEW 40C IP 5000's like cody said....also for what its worth we both ran the same set of tires that we used at the USVTA Nationals. Brad said his was going to have his set gold plated and put on to his National Belt.....

The tires I ran were the 2nd set I ever owned. The last time they had touched a track (before this weekend) was last November! I think this past weekend would also make for race day #15 for the set, so they were super soft and well beyond broken in! I was always a little too liberal with my Paragon application

Those IP 5000's are great, I run one in my stock foam car

Brian Smith (me) was using a Novak Havoc 21.5 system and an Orion 3600 battery for the 1st 2 rounds. My best run of the 2 qualifiers was good enough to make the A-main. I switched to a LRP Sphere for the 3rd qualifier since I'm more familiar with how to set it up for my driving style. I think I improved about 6-8 seconds over a 5 minute run, but that may have been as much to do with changes I made to my car and clean driving as the electronics change.

I just wanted to post what people were running at Ft. Wayne to show the wide variety of equipment that was being run and how close the qualifying was from 2nd through 8th (all had 24 laps). Brad was the only person to get 25 laps in qualifying.

Thanks guys! Proved the point i was trying to make, it comes down to skill and setup.

Hope they have the race next year! My brother lives in La Grange and i could plan my annual trip home to visit family up north around the race.

1. Brad Johnson - HPI Camaro/Corally Phi/SPX ESC / IP 5000 40C Lipo
2. John Kissel - HPI Cuda/Losi JRXS Type R
3. Kevin Kane - Pegasus Mustang/Schumacher Mi3/SpeedPassion ESC/IP 5000 40C Lipo
4. Cody Woods - Pegasus Mustang/FT TC4/LRP Sphere ESC/SMC 5000 Lipo
5. Greg Cobb - Pegasus Mustang/TC5R/Tekin RS
6. Kevin Marcy - HPI Cuda/TC5
7. Phil Zimmerman - ??/??
8. Carlos Perez - HPI Mustang/TC3/Novak Havok ESC/ Orion 3200 20C Lipo
9. Brian Smith - HPI Cuda/TC3/LRP Sphere/ Team Checkpoint 4900 Lipo
10. Ben Freiburger - HPI Camaro/??

Just updated the list with added ESC and Battery info for some. My new battery did not got shipped on time for the event, so I had to use my old 3200 20C lipo I qualified 9th with a 23 5:00.04 so close for the 24! Eventhough i did not had the best battery to use for the event, the setup on my car was pretty good. I made a couple of mistakes in my best qualifier that cost me about 6 secs. I estimate my best possible qualifying times could have been around 24 5:06. I could not have gotten anymore out of the car. My fastest lap around was a 12.48s. Brad's fastest lap I think was on the 3rd qualifier with a 11.96s. Like somebody mentioned, he was the only one to reach 25 laps. He was flying.

Phil Zimmerman was driving an X-Ray borrowed from Ken Miller. Not sure of motor/speedo, but it was a lipo, 21.5, HPI Camaro.
The #11 qualifier was running a Tamiya TA05, Tekin RS, Novak 21.5, Orion 4800 Lipo, HPI Camaro.

Here is a link to an article that appeared in Monday's News Sentinal, the Ft. Wayne evening paper.

I've started RC racing again after 5+ years, and I'm getting my XXX-S ready for some VTA racing. I have a question on gearing for the parking lot track at Harbor Hobbies (or any parking lot track for that matter). Is the basic idea to get the FDR as close to the specified minimums without running the motor too hot? Can anyone recommend a pinion and spur gear combination (64p) for either 21.5 or 27t motors on the XXX-S? Does anyone still run the XXX-S?

Thanks.

Jon
