Ahhh, so that's why the widened the C-hub opening. They posted a reason, something about being able to get the axle out of the C-hub without taking the knuckle out of the C-hub, but to me that's a moot reason because I've never wanted to do that.

Definitely looks pricey. If a battery strap is, what, $30, then just one of these should be like $60.

They'll probably come out with an "lightweight" aluminum version later on and charge even more

It looks like the new driveshafts are thicker than the standard ones...so they should at least offer pretty good durability.

Hi guys, I have a small issue with destroying from composite spool outdrives.

This is my second 008.

My first was a 5cell 008EU with a 27t brushed motor, Orion 4800 LiPo and 52mm driveshafts. I had this for about 5 months and didn't break a thing.

I took a break from racing, and sold all my equipment as I thought I'd be out of the game for a while, but circumstances changed and I came back this month.

I have another 5 cell 008EU, this time with a 13.5 brushless, Orion 3800 LiPo and 50mm driveshafts.

I'm now finding that simple accidents that my old car would shrug off, ends up snapping the composite spool outdrive.

I'm not sure whats causing it, I think it could be either:

- The shorter driveshafts don't bind the car up so much, so the forces split the outdrive easier

or

- The aggressiveness of the brushless compared to the brushed mean the outdrives can't take sudden stops (like in an accident).

or

- The colder weather over here is a making the outdrives brittle.

I've managed to break 3 outdrives in 8 runs over the past 2 weeks, indoors on a concrete surface.

Has anyone else had the problem? If you did, how did you overcome it?

It is probably the short 50mm drive shafts. Since they are not in the cup closer to the stronger mass you are breaking the cup. There are some alloy ones coming that you would be interested in.

I'm racing with stock T2008 6cell chassis and 10.5T motor and don't have any issues with composite outdrives (haven't broken even one after year of racing). I gave my dad (he has T2 007) smaller spool that came with my car and he had broken 2 outdrives. If I remember well T2 007 has shorter drive shafts than T2008. So I think that's the problem

Thanks for the input guys. The strange thing is, I got the car from a guy who drove for the distributor over here in the 5cell Modified class, and he didn't break an outdrive all year, even with a 3.5 brushless...

Maybe I'm an animal behind the wheel.

I think I've got a pair of 52mm driveshafts, I'll try them before getting the alloy outdrives.

Yep,
I heard about this issue with different lenght of the shafts. Longer shafts are reason ... you should use 52mm shafts

Default rubber conversion

Guys. Will the foam spec chassis components (bulkheads ect.) bolt right on to a rubber (2.5) chassis lower and upper deck? I need more flex but I don't want to lose the drive ratio and front diff of the foam car. Any issues anyone can think of??

Default These shafts look good for the whole car.

You should use these things front and rear and on carpet. Why would that hurt anything?

Hey guys I'm thinking about selling my 07 and buying the 08, can anyone tell me if any of the 07 parts will transfer to the 08. Like arms, c-hubs etc.

It will but you will likely need the shorter rear belt. The rear bulkhead is slightly more forward on th EU than on the US. Make sure you do get top and bottom chassis plates cause the top deck from the US does not work becuase of the bulkhead location.

Thats the only issue I can think of.

They will but keep in mind the 008 arms are slightly different than the 007's. C-hubs(running change with the larger hole) and everything else is the same.
