I to finished my 008 today i did notic one thing that i changed.

LBSR415 this will help you pionion hitting the battery bar problem. if you look at your pully asembly where the spur gear is. when looking at the car from the back you will notic a silver ring behind the spur on the left side. it about a 1/8" thick. and if you look at your belts real close you will notic there not perfectly straight. if you take the spur and pull assem out and turn it a complete 180 degrees. you notic you can move yo pinion a full 1/8" back and ride on the spur will full contact. while getting a extra 1/8" between the pinion and battery bar. and you belts will now be straight as well.

sorry for the long post didnt know how to shortin it up. i ran mine tonight with a bl 17.5 in it had to run a 96 spur with about a 44 pinion to get gearing. sucks putting that size gear in there. had to losen up the top deck to do it!

all done i love the car

another tip is to shave the t-style battery holder down to the horizontal line that runs across it halfway down. if you shave it right to the line it will not expose the screw hole.this will help so the battery bar does not get cocked at an angle because the top half of that line is at an angle and the battery bar does not rest on it but against it. this will definitely give you about 1mm of clearance. I hope XRAY comes out with special spur gears and pinions so we don't have to run these small spur gears that are causing the belts to rub massively on the pinion(even though i modded my grub screw so it does not protrude out of the pinion at all). i really think this creates drag and we cannot get the full potential out of the car.

This issue only exists on the Rubber Spec '008, right? Because I don't have that issue on my Foam Spec '008.

As for the battery, I'm using the Orion 3600 LiPo, and these fit perfectly in the chassis, especially with the case molded fake battery rounds on the bottom, but you will need to trim the battery t-bar to allow the LiPo to slide in far enough, but also prevent it from sliding into the Belt or Spur.

I think you're going to find that most have the same price. I believe that Xray is forcing the distributers to not go below a minimum price. When I first saw these on the web last month, for about 2-weeks they were priced at $439.00 to $449.00, then all the sudden, all online prices set at $489.00.

this is on the US Foam Spec. also be careful because i seen a friend take a hit and his Orion lipos came right out. they have to be taped because the battery strap will not hold them in secure enough.

The battery strap holds the LiPo great if you place two 1/4" x 1" long strips of servo tape on the chassis under the battery. I had to use a 1mm spacer on both posts of the battery strap to raise it slightly, and combined with tape, problem solved.

I added 112 grams of weight to the outside edge of the battery with stick-on lead weights. I'll get some pics after racing tomorrow.

I don't it will cause an issue though, as most of the flex will happen closer the the center/middle of the upper deck.

I'm finding that while the '008's bulkheads may be more LiPo friendly (no mods to the bulkhead or battery like on the '007) that there really is no good method of securing a LiPo in the chassis except to use Battery Tape.

On the '007 I could use all the corner battery stops and the battery retention bar to hold my LiPo 3200's. I did not know until last night that the '008 does not even have provisions to use the corner battery stops on the inside of the chassis for a LiPo or 6-Cell, just outside. There are 4-holes for the T and L battery stops on inside for 5-cell configs though. What I did to hold/stop my 3600 LiPo from hitting the spur or reaching the belt was to trim the T battery stops down, removing the alignment peg from the bottom. I had extra T-battery stops and cut down four of them and mounted on the chassis. This created a very solid stop for the LiPo. I then took the L-battery stops for the outside corner and trimmed the L-portion off, leaving the bulky portion for the screw hole and alignment peg only. This leaves a solid block to prevent the 3600-LiPo from moving back-forth in the chassis. Next, I spaced up the Battery Retention bar 1mm on each end, then secured the 3600-LiPo in the chassis. My only concern is that with enough force, I still risk ejecting the battery out the side of the car.

I just bought an orion 3600 last night and it will be here this week. I wanted to know what everyone else is doing as far as adding weight to the right side of the car and also what did you do to make sure the battery hasn't been ejected in an accident. I'm thinking the lead that can be double sided taped can be added to the bottom of the batteries to keep them from being easily ejected out. I need help, thanks in advance.
