Maybe because 64p is more popular overall, and has finer gearing adjustments.

I have no clue what equivilent a mamba max is to the novak brushless motor, so I cannot help you.

Now thats funny. I moved because there was no local competition. I moved because of alot of reasons that had nothing to do with racing. Why are you not racing at the birds?

the MM 7700 with 7.4 lipo produces about 57000 rpm
the novak 5.5 with 7.4 lipo produces about 50300 rpm
the movak 4.5 with 7.4 lipo produces about 60700 rpm
so the MM 7700 would be about a 5 turn in comparison

With what was posted, I would guess maybe about a 9.0 FDR with Rubber tires...

YYAYHIM runs the mamba stuff, maybe he has some suggestions.

I know this topic has been discussed before but I have a nasty wobble on my spur! I have checked and double checked that the grub screws connecting the spurgear holder and the pullies to the centre shaft are centrally aligned on the 'flats' yet it still wobbles, anyone have any suggestions as to what the problem might be?

I have even checked that the centre shaft is straight prior to assembly. If i fit just the bearings and the spurgear holder and locate it in postion and spin it, you can see that the spur holder is slightly out and does not rotate true, could it be that the spurgear holder itself is slightly out, this problem is driving me nuts...................

hope someone has an answer

Try using a little 300 grit sand paper and lightly sand the holder and spur gear on both sides. There may be some imperfections that may not be seen by the naked eye. If it still wobbles try changing the gear.

My buddy had the same problem.
We checked the id of the spur adaptor and saw it was bigger than the shaft so when tightened up it was offset causing the spur to wobble and have a high spot.

I found exactly the same problem. Initially I thought it was the spur gear at fault but eventually, 3 stripped spurs later, realised the adaptor wasn't central on the layshaft.
Out of interest how have you cured it?
I ended up putting a grub screw either side and slowly tightened each in turn until very near perfect, but the weekend will tell.
Oddly the car is good at home but then I guess my carpet is far less grippy.

To the best of my knowledge, no one has cured it! I have been advised as follows:

1. Use 2 grubscrews on the spurgear holder, try and get some new one's, not Serpent, and longer if possible. Set the one first which is on the opposite side to the 'flat' on the shaft and then the one onto the flat of the shaft. If your very carefull you can hopefully centrally align the holder. Also, make sure that the grub screw dosnt have a sharp point, file it flat.

2. If your using 64dp, dump the Serpent spur and use a 102t tamiya spur, far superior.

3. Keep your fingers and toes crossed and say a prayer

True...the MM esc and 7700 motor can be as fast as a 3.5 motor as long as you have the right settings on your ESC and 7.4v Lipo.

Set your ESC to Med start power, and medium motor timing, and start with a 10.0 FDR. Take it for a run and see if its as fast as the other motors and, and check motor temps(try to stay below 180F).

I have run my 7700 with high start power and high timing with 9.30 FDR and its fast and ran at 177F after 6 minutes in 85F weather BUt please start out with the above suggested FDR of 9.75-10.0 and go from there, with medium start power and medium timing on ESC.
