With an Orion 3.5 I really liked gearing around 9.3-9.4 for a fairly small track (80 ft straight) the S400 has no problem going lower than that though. I'm running a 106/24 now with an Orion 3.0 turn and it feels really good on the same track.

I've never tried to go that low, but I don't think it would be a problem. What motors are you running?

Also, if you are running 6 cell packs you will have to gear lower than with 5 cell packs..

The Orion motors have awesome power with the LRP Sphere. We run mostly 3.5 turn motors, but use 5 cells. With 6 cells you would be fine with a 4.5 most likely.

6 cells with a 3.5 is a lot of power, the motor can handle it, but most people can't... It will want to spin the tires exiting every corner basically.

6 cells with a 4.5 will be very close in speed to a 5 cell 3.5, maybe slightly faster.

Randy and Butter,

Since you guys have both run the rear gear diff in your cars, what range of oil should I buy to cover the typical range of traction. I will be racing outdoor rubber mod and 10.5 on low to med-high bite track. Expected asfault temps are about 60* to 90*.

Thanks,
Steve

Thanks Tim,

I appreciate the quick answer, I should have included you too, I know you race with Butter and have been running really strong with your Serpent in the Florida State Series. Have you guys had a race lately?

Much Thanks,
Steve

Been testing some new tires, thats about the racing I have been doing...

We have a State race coming up in few weeks, ( Daytona) so hopefully we will have a good showing...
