there're some amendment in the manual, but this shim is not one of them. It's there for a reason I guess.

I found this one and it dosent have the shim under it

None of the pics I've seen have it, not sure why they changed the mount...

no Gap there ! I just looked in the magazine and theres doesnt have a shim under it either yours is the first I have seen with it. can you post that part of the manual?

doh. I'm in the middle of shifting houses...my scanner is packed. Take my word for it, it is stated with picture in the manual pg7. Some jap words could mean 'option' but I am not sure about that.
I can force mount without the shim, but it will bend the chassis...

Does it have anything to do with the bevel gear holder? mine is plastic...the pic of yours is alum. Could it be of different thickness?

I never did use the plastic shaft holders, but I believe they hold the same dimention as the aluminum ones.
