IMO if you have ever had an Xray (any Xray) then this car (or really any other car) will not stand up to the fit, finish and quality of an Xray. Now having said that I also didn't pay $499 for my TC5. I really think that some of the tolerances are too big and that the quailty of material should be better i.e. axles, cvds and screws.

But I have to say that this is the best handling rubber/carpet car I have owned in a long time.
My $.02

I ran a X-ray T2 a few years back and just getting back into carpet racing. I know quality of X-ray is hard to beat but every other Associated vehicle I owned i was always pleased with. I want to go with the tc5 because I heard it a great carpet car.

Interesting .. Im liking the Xray syle ball joints on the steering linkages ...probably helps with that terrible slop that develops!

Well despite all the frustrating comments about the diff builds I decided to go ahead and order a tc5. I also ordered those part numbers for the t-nut and stuff that RobK mentioned about 10 posts up. I'll let everyone know how it goes when I get to the diffs.

Default DIFFS?

So is there an easier way to build the diff. I can't get the diff spring bolt assembly to go in together right. I got the bolt jammed in as far as possible into the dogbone spring cup. but as soon as i put the whole assembly together, the screw doesn't reach.

I compressed the spring as much as i can with a vise already. I have built a good amount of kits with no problems but this kit is pretty tough. well at least the diff part is.

Everything included works together. It is likely that you didnt stuff the nut far enough into the T-holder...When you think it is in all the way, it will go another few mm's

what is the easiest way to stuff the nut into the t-holder? Do they sell the t-holders and the nuts by itself? I busted both of them out of frustration. LOL or do I have to buy the whole diff rebuild kit and outdrives just to get the t-holder?

Pick up the part asc6575 that Robk posted. I had the same issue with my first build. My second build i decided to use thinner shims for the thrust bearing instead of the ones provided. I really dont know if that was a good idea yet but i'll find out very soon.

I was able to put one diff together the way associated intended. I put a small nut driver on the table put the diff on the nut driver and pressed down with the allen wrench. Basically i was a human press. For those that know me i'm a big boy so the extra weight helped.

Looks like TC5 had a decent outing at the Novak Race. I would be interested in Hohnstein and Herbert setups for 10.5 and 13.5 rubber. Could you let us know thanks..

Well........it was a very good week for AE at the Novak race.

Jim Piersol won 17.5 rubber with his TC5r.

I tq'd and finished second in 13.5 rubber........two very small driving errors cost me the win.
Nick Stampfel finished 5th in 13.5 rubber.

Bob Stellflue finished 3rd in 13.5 foam

Keven Hebert finished 2nd in 10.5 rubber and I finished 3rd in 10.5 rubber.
LeMieux was in a league of his own in that class.....

Keven also finished 2nd in mod foam.

As far as the rubber setups............I ran the setup I have posted here a few times........I did switch to a spool for sat and sun because I felt it was a little easier to race with.
Keven tried everything on his rubber car........I don't know exactly what he ended up with.
