Can someone tell me what happens when you change the ball stud location on the steering block do? How will it effect the handing when I use the outer hole.

Verndog,

I don't know if you know this or not but when you buy replacement plastic diff halves you get 2 full sets of parts. That means 2 barrels as well. I think that I paid 4.95 for the whole bag from stormer which is very good pricing. Chances are if the barrels were bought seperately they wouldn't be much cheaper. So you could pay the 5.00 get the 2 parts you need and sell/give away the other parts if not needed to a friend.

True...I guess I have enough now (3 extra). Just seemed a bit sad to pay the $5.00, a couple dollars shipping for 2 of those POS plastic diff nut retainers. I thought of using just the nut, and a ground down driver on the other side to hold while adjusting. Problem with that, you have to pull both sides to adjust instead of one.

They really should at least include them with the diff rebuild kit...putting in just the nut is a bit useless.

Got a simple set up question...I've searched the forum and can't find my answer.

What difference does having toe in at the rear hub have as opposed to toe in at the arm mounts?

i do not have the answer for you , but i know there is a huge difference.

Inboard toe vs Outboard toe

Josh Cyrul answered this question with extreme detail. Its somewhere on rctech. He explained it so it was very easy to understand.

Maybe post on one of his threads to see if he might post the differences again.

Inboard toe can make the car transfer more weight fore and aft. Outboard toe is used a lot with foam since the car doesn't dive so bad.

Also, inboard toe will shorten the car as you add toe.

I searched for "Inboard toe vs Outboard toe" and found some more info. I'll see if I can Josh Cyrul's posts.

Thanks

On the arm actually will make the rear spring a little stiffer that why at times guys will say more toe freed up the car on the onboard setting if you have 2 car put more outboard compared to inboard and feel the difference with the same springs also with the inboard you are changing the wheel base.

robk is right, it will give overall more steering. If you want the technical answer so that you feel a little more understanding here it is.

The outside hole gives less ackerman, what this means is that the inside and outside tire turn at a very similar rate (angle). Using the inside hole means that the outside tire will turn at a lesser rate than the inside tire. More ackerman means less angle of the outside tire leading to less steering.

However, sometime running the outside hole makes the car twitchy and difficult to drive consistently, especially on foam tires.

The forward and backward holes on the bellcrank do the same thing. The forward of the two holes is the most aggressive, giving "less" ackerman. It goes in this order

1B most aggressive
1A
2B
2A least aggressive

Thanks for the answers guys. I'll try both out to try and feel the difference.
