As for alignment, there is a little notch and a recess - make sure these are lined up.

Also make sure the gears are seated correctly. If the main gear is not seated in the diff housing properly (on not over the pin) this will bind like you have described.
use 800-1000 sand paper to sand all the back of gears and also sand the diff cases on where they mate. Wash the oring then apply oring grease.

Should I pre-soak the diff out-drive o-rings in diff oil in order to swell them up a bit before I assemble the diff? My kit is on the way

For my experience, do not use the silicon oil to pre-soak the oring. Should use oring grease to seal up the oring to avoid the oring absorb the diff oil.

so I hear the o-ring for the diff doesn’t seal the diff that well and others have replaced it with a better one.

I would recommend to just build the diffs per instructions using the seals that came with the car first before you go spending more on o-rings. I have already changed fluids on my diffs twice now with no leak issues.

So how are the BD9’s performing for you guys? When I get one it will more than likely be run on grey carpet and not the black carpet everyone else is.

Default Rear toe in

si I’m in the process of building my BD9 and was wondering what a suggested starting point for 17.5 Is. I am coming from an Associate TC7.2 and I run from 2.5 to 3 degrees for our local track.

Its an outdoor medium tracktion track.

The 3.8 the kit says to use seems like a lot but I do understand it’s not an Associated car as well

thanks for the help guys.

It's very easy to change so I would start with 3, then try a little less and then try a little more just to see how the car takes it.

I just received my BD9 aluminum chassis kit on Friday night and I can confirm that the early adopter plastics were included - so nice to start out with spare parts right off the bat. Also the aluminum chassis is gorgeous!
