Yes, 2 arms and the ball set listed will do it! Also use longer ball cups on the damper. Tamiyas will work. And add steering stoppers like shown in the pictures to protect the dampers from hard impacts.

Will this bolt onto a TRF102? It mentions F104 so I assume it would?
Thanks! The Vr1 didn't actually work that well on the TRF102 as the droop screws didn't touch the chassis (was narrower there than the Exotek chassis). I actually had a custom chassis made for my TRF102 with extra ears added just so I could use the Vr1 suspension |
TRF103 is built and ready for TCS. Dan has supplied a setup that will work. I just hope I can get the tires run in on Friday practice @ Windy City. Zero experience with the car, never been to this track and I feel kind of like Claire Williams on the first day of winter testing. I did at least make sure my car is running.

Interesting. As Dan said, the CRC black carpet used here is very high grip. Traction rolls can be a big problem. The spool is very common.
If you like the ball diff, a lot of guys here used a ball diff in combination with Traxxas slipper pegs. If you use a spur gear with an inner and outer row of holes, the inner row can house slipper pegs to slow diff action without locking. It was popular before gear diffs became common. May I ask what the Part number for the 1/8 pegs is? 4685? Will try this tip for sure Best regards Simon |
Car built on Sunday and Monday, tires glued on Thursday, setup and a few hours of getting the setup right Friday. The payoff was qualifying 9th and finishing 7th with a car I had never run for TCS. The only exception was Q3 where I got the front tires wrong. I am pretty impressed by this kit. Hope to make Ohio and Nationals.

Thanks Larry. Dan told me to get these and I couldn't order in time for Saturday's event. I was missing the part number until now. Thanks for hosting such a great event!

F1Larry,
Do you know if these are legal to use at TCS races? I think the question was raised when I was at the Tamiya track in Aliso, but I didn't have any so it didn't mean much to me. |

One thing I need to look into. The rear ride height blocks are loose. Not to the point that the spur has issues or skips teeth, but I can wiggle them a bit at both sides, probably about a half millimeter. Anyone have this issue and have a fix? I do have some 3 Racing alloy inserts from years gone by and some even older F103 units. I searched the thread and it didn't find this topic, so my apology if this has been discussed before.

Use Teflon tape from plumbing section at the Depot
Thanks again! |
Next question, What outer diff housing will work now that they have discontinued the part number listed in the kit?
