If this was that big of an issue why won't they make a recall?? I have been very fortunate with mine and I beat the crap out of it on 2s and other than bearing failure that I have fixed with better bearings I have not had any issues with my drivetrain... (knock on wood)..

I no longer expect much from the aftermarket part of hobby. If something comes out great. But I don't get hopes up. Too many vehicles have been ignored of past 3-4 years.
No issues with front diff or rear bearing. Haven't run in awhile. Kinda lost spots once schools started up. And getting dark earlier.

has anyone tried the HD diff, and internals and was it better? it seems like mine is hard to get traction with the stock locker set up, on my loose track conditions.

I'm not sure if it's just a replacement for stock. I haven't taken my apart but the Manuel show the rear diff has a locker in it? I'm not sure. Or if it's a Upgrade from stock

The stock rear diff has a locker/ spool. The front and middle have gear diffs.

I think they fit, but not sure how the axle shafts would mate with the internal sun gears...

Exactly, the gear diff would fit but the axles wouldnt mate with it. The axles have a square end that goes into the spool/locker. So I guess the answer is no.

It's easier to drive with a locked rear axle anyway. Unlocking the rear axle would cause massive torque steer.

I noticed a squeak that started mid-run today and got slightly more prominent by the end of the run. I may have another failing diff pinion bearing. I ended up using another cheap bearing when I replaced the first one that failed, because I didn't have the fancy ceramic bearings I wanted to use in the size I needed. Shimming the rear diff pinion propshaft seems to be helping it, whereas the front diff pinion propshaft is getting a little wobbly, so I suspect it's the front diff pinion bearing that's failing this time. I didn't notice drive cup being hot after the run, unlike when the rear diff pinion bearing failed, so maybe it's still fine, I dunno.
