The difference is traction. Depending on the amount of grip on the surface your on. 3 gear will loosen the rear grip and 4 gear will give you more.

I would say Ions, Dirtwebs, Pressure Points, or Chain Links. Pretty much any small tread height tire. In either clay or super soft/Ultra soft compound.
Thanks for the correction, always assumed Truggy was generic for all stadium trucks. Can you tell I have touched nothing besides a buggy until now?

Thanks for the tire tips, so pretty much the same deal then as with a buggy from a tread perspective, got it.

Here's a great cheat sheet to troubleshooting your set-up. I'd suggest printing the PDF at the bottom of the page and keeping it in your toolbox.
That's a good post thanks for the info. I didn't know o-rings only last a month. How often are you guys changing them out?

Aright guys I am in need of some help. I am brand new to racing and picked up a used t5m for pretty cheap. I have installed all my electronics and am now trying to match a set up I found online. The truck is bone stock with a 4 gear tranny. Working on getting the 3 gear. My question is, with the standard rear hubs, I am getting a lot of rub between camberlink ballstud and the wheel. Anyone else have this problem? Should I shave it down?

Heres a pic of what I am talking about:

Looks like the wrong rear hex bringing the wheel in too close.

EDIT** Just measured and it does seem to be the 8.5mm

That's a better pic! Those are the correct hexes but your hub carriers are on the wrong side.

Thanks!
Electrons, dirt webs or chain links. Personal preference from there.

Stock setup plus the following, lower ride height, thicker shock fluid and maybe stiffer springs but not necessary, gear diff with 3 gear trans, tune camber links to suit.

Basically the stock set up. I'm running 35 front 30 rear shock oil. Ball diff ( Diff preference will come down to your driving style and preference.) The biggest thing in my opinion is tires. Schumacher staggered ribs or Vee 2s (front) / Micro Spikes in the rear. Worn Vee 2s work in the rear as well. Any minor up grades like harden A-arms, weight shaving upgrades are totally up to you. The truck handles great in stock build form on carpet.
