The gull wing bend allows you to run a longer stroke shock and still have a low shock tower.

Not cool for the people that like the Centro.

Why is it not cool?

Because AE is releasing a B5, all of a sudden the C4.2 and B4.2 rust to pieces, carbon fibre splits, and the aluminum warps. All the day of release?

Just because something new comes out, doesn't make the old stuff outdated, the only thing a new car hurts, is used car resale value. If you are in this hobby with hopes of high resale value, then you made a terrible decision.

The Centro just came out. The B4.2 came out a year ago. You don't think it's a bit much to keep up with? Think about it as a consumer and not as a sponsored guy that gets everything for free. Not saying you are sponsored, but I think they are shortening their product cycle too much. This is my opinion.

I like my iPhones like I likes my cars. A new one every year. I have no problem if they release a car every year.

The Centro is a great car and I really dont think the MM B5 is ready so thats why you see all the support for the Centro at the moment. I beleive the RM B5 will be the first release of the 2.

Sure, I could understand that. Overall, this release feels a little knee jerk reaction. I think this has more to do with the RB6 winning the Worlds and Kyosho creeping into Team Associated market share in the 2wd buggy class. Purely business economics. Now people need to buy the B5 and the word on the street has to be its a better car than the b4.2.

Hideeho
the .1 & .2 were not new cars. They were updates that included the mods the end users were putting on the car from the after martket. If you were keeping up with the up dates from other companies (jc, proline, avid, etc...), you had a .1 & then a .2 before they were released. This seems to be the way all companies are doing it now a days (kyosho tki1/2/3, xray '12/'13/'14, jq green/yellow/white, etc). This release, on the other hand, appears to be a completely new car, not a .3.

I wonder, if this is a new car, will they change to metric hardware?

I think they are releasing it because they must feel it serves a significant competitive advantage over the current RM car on the market from them.

I agree 100% with Erik, in that they are releasing a RM only platform first, then around August the year mark of the centro release you will probably see the MM release.

Another thing to keep in mind, Paul Wynn of JC is from what I understand an AE Team Manager here in the Southeast, and Jason Ruona is a lifer. Trust me when I say, I don't see them not "being in the know", further more they wouldn't have wasted the time and money into research and developing C4.2 upgrades only for AE to release a B5 MM car the following month.

The B4 was released in 2003 -- a decade. The B4.2 cycle refresh, was released last year. That was for folks who wanted a fresh B4 without having to upgrade all the parts individually (shocks, slipper, steering rack, etc) -- but its still a 2003 B4 design.

Folks have been waiting for the B4 successor for a very long time. The Centro was a short term solution for AE to make their car competitive on the high grip sugar World's track. While AE was the distributer of the Centro, they did not design it (to my knowledge).

The B5 has been in the works well before the Centro C4.2 was made available. If you chose to get this conversion, you knew what you were getting into -- a bandaid til the MM B5.
