How do you know when you are at locked? I get one full rotation at the rear and about a half rotation on the fronts.

I'm going to assume for the moment it's not the motor. It is a brand new Reds. I'm going to try to rule all else out before going to another motor.

Where is Root's method? I followed Hodge's video. Gearing is 17/84.

Got it be sure to let us know I want to know who got it??? I'm ruling out the diff at 3/4 throttle. they would be at low end most likely..

Fair enough. I'm not saying your not right.. only that desoldering everything and buying another motor is the last resort.

That didn't fix it so I thought it would be the slipper not being set tight enough. I tightened the slipper so the screw went slightly past the nut. Still have the same problem. Any ideas?

The motor is a 6.5 and the ESC is an Orion R10 pro... it should have plenty of power to clear a double and haul down a straight.
Okay I re read it from another view. 3/4 throttle from low end? Not when your at 3/4 throttle like on the straight? I'm losing this one...LOL

You may have a pinion that has been machined slightly out this can also cause the noise you are hearing.

You won't be able to rotate them opposite directions anymore when locked

If I'm not on the throttle but moving, like out of a 180 turn and head into a jump and I need to get on the throttle enough to clear the jump, it will happen. If I come out of a turn to a straight and already have some good speed through the turn, but hit the throttle to head down the straight it'll happen. I estimate it to happen when I transition from no or little throttle to about 1/2 or 3/4 throttle.

Maybe it's the slipper, but I have it tighter than most people already. The screw is slightly past the nut.

It's not about having one actually.. I have 2 other 6.5s, a 7.5 or a 9.5 I can try. It's the soldering that I don't want to do again. Especially when the chance of it being the motor are the slimmest.

Roots method can be found on youtube. I did a quick search of 22-4 diff setting.

17 seems a little low to me, i run a 21 on my 6.5 and a 19 on my 5.0

Also to cover all options i would remove the slipper assembly and throughly check everything and reassemble per the manual just to be safe. Its possible a part got flipped in the wrong direction. While its apart i recommend doing the tech tip on sanding the slipper shaft by Jose. Much smoother clicker when completed.

I'll remove the slipper and recheck it. 17/84 is too low? Phends setup sheet showed a 16/84. I'm not saying I'm Phend by any stretch but his is lower then mine and I'm willing to bet he doesn't have the problem I have.

My 6.5 comes off the track cooler with the 21. It was roughly a 20-25 degree differance with the 18.
