Thanks, Thomas! Will these new items be included with the kits going forward?

Starting my et48 build today, after reading the thread, I am curious as what brand of diff oil you guys are using, I wanted to run associated but I don't see the 12 or 15 offered. Thanks

PT Racing oils are common for both the diffs and the shocks.

fiercercsolutions stocks those with a good price as well as other tekno parts.

Yeah, you have a very good point. This is especially the case with RC helicopters...people get started with bigger ones than they should because they look cool.

RC vehicles always get placed into the "toy" category, which makes it sound like kids should be able to drive them. A powerful truggy, helicopter, etc. has the potential to really hurt somebody. Maybe once rc vehicles pass a certain cost/hazard threshold the class needs a new name to separate them from "toys".

My entry level futuba radio has a dial for the throttle ETA, so I get my kids started by giving them a crawler with the throttle turned waaaay down. That way, they can't really hurt any bystanders (or the car). The occasional bruised ankle is as bad as it gets.

I agree that no one should start off with any rc vehicle past a certain cost/speed/hazard level, especially not kids.

Could anyone check full lenght of it with tires and wing?

I figured id post it in this forum instead of the HB forum. I just purchased a new HB D8T Tessmann edition and before i started to assemble it i also purchased a tekno d8t conversion kit for the truggy. Well im all done and i now consider it a tekno vehicle. The parts and building process was great, everything went together perfectly. The end result is one bad ass truggy. Its a shame i only have pics on my phone and can't figure out how to post them.if someone would be willing to post them for me i could email or txt them to someone. I installed a tekin gen2 esc/motor combo, what size pinion should i start of with? And what about diff oils? What is everyone running.

When you do conversions it can be hard to find a right location to get help specific to the vehicle you have.

You may want to see if there is a thread for those using converted HB D8Ts and post there, I bet they can give better setup advise specific to your vehicle.

Man... How long is it with everything...?

turtle189mt 12-12-2014 08:21 AM

Anyone not use the thin diff spacers, they suck to get diff in with them.

use them, however, from what I have heard there are some ways you can get the same effect but with different shims.

one is to use smaller shims between the bearing and the diff itself, spacing the bearing over and hence the shim is not able to move around.

Another option is use a thicker shim that doesn't bend / fold over that is similar in dimensions to the amount of shims being used with the stock ones. So say 2 shims being used, use 1 same thickness shim.
