How the hell (pardon the language) do you guys afford this stuff? I just put together a shopping cart at Tower with a tekin setup, Hitech 7954 servo and a cheap receiver and its over $1000! That's twice the money i paid for my TT MT4 - G3. Is it really worth it?

I know a lot of guys have been waiting for this truck for a while and sold off other trucks for the Tekno. I sold my RC8 before I got my truck so I had all of the electronics sitting around.
Its also tax refund time so a lot of guys have money burning a hole in their pocket.

$1000, um your a little low if your starting from scrach. Your gonna need batteries and tires. 4300mah isn't gonna cut it in a 10 minute main with this thing and 90% of your setup is tires. So your gonna need to buy some good ones. A lot of the seasoned guys have extras, motor, esc, servo, etc...Doesn't hurt as much because we have spread it out over time. Quality isn't cheep and cheep isn't quality, but buggies and truggies are a ton of fun

Its still cheaper than guys that buy $50K boats and use them 2 times a year or $13K snowmobiles and use them 1 time a year. My house is on a very large lot so I built a 1/8th track about 200 feet out my back. Our weather here sucks for 6 months out of the year but from spring till fall I drive at least 2 or 3times a week. If you are using your stuff enough to wear it out it means you are using it for what you purchased it for. I don't understand guys that will buy a new Corvette and drive it maybe 2 times a year. Why not use your stuff?

Yea all I had to buy was the kit and tires, then I splurged on a servo with more torque.
I agree with the BMW vs. Chevy commit. Just yesterday someone asked what it was like to drive one (would have just handed him the stick but was in the middle of a race day) it's like riding in a Cadillac vs. a Civic. Very plush on all sections of the track. I'd over jump things and expect to hear the big chassis slap, but nope just soaks it up and keeps on going.
Pipes, ruts, other cars, whatever it just rolls right over them without missing a beat.

Now when comparing to the cost of 1/10 scale stuff, that's really just up to you to decide if it's worth it or not. It's the same way with RC airplanes the bigger the model the more you will feel in control
