+1. Most AE cars that I own function better with slop. My old SC10 was dialed with all sorts of slop.

The carbon rack steer's better because they do not flex like the plastic does . Some play is not a big deal ,its not exactly a good thing either.

Yes the Vision rack has more tuning ability over the Jc rack, a great option
Use the standard forward position however.

When racing with slicks with the Vision rack try the new forward hole, helps smooth out the darty steering under those conditions .

I'm looking @ several steering racks & see thing I like in all of them, but none have everything I want in one. JC has bearings & 2 ackerman adjustments & made of CF, Vision has bushings & 4 ackerman adjustments & made of CF, lunar has bearings & 1 ackerman adjustment & made of aluminum. My ideal link would have bearings, 4+ ackerman adjustment & made of aluminum. Maybe Avid will come through with one. Jmuck...?

I agree with you....
Anyone else want to chime in?

I'm running the JC rack and the cost doesn't justify the amount of slop it reduces. The stock rack with the aluminum steering works just fine. Save the money and buy track time or tires, that will be be better suited.

It's only my opinion, but, since I had a decent amount of time in between heats this past weekend I went through and shimmed my car to make a lot of the slop go away and I seemed to like the way it felt better. My times were also faster but the track was getting faster so I don't know if it was all the track or part less slop but it definitely felt better to me.

Disagree ....

Slop does not hep in anyway, only makes for more mistakes on the track .

What are you referring to as dialed with slop?

Just steering slop or arms, steering, hubs ect...?

Dang now I'm craving a good sloppy joe.

Cody227 08-28-2013 11:42 AM

just fyi putting lip balm on the turnbuckle threads worked well. finally i'm able to setup camber at the track :D

I would think the bushings in the vision steering rack would be just fine in a 2wd buggy plus it has the 4 Ackerman adjustments. Maybe see if wild cherry has had any issues with the vision product. It doesn't sound like the steering rack from any of the companies post takes away much slop. I would just purchase the one that gives you the extra tunning adjustments.

DanielC. 08-28-2013 11:50 AM

Why do you need 4 ackerman adjustments? Splitting hairs IMO. There's countless other ways to affect the steering feel of the car.

ryanpatrickgore 08-28-2013 11:51 AM

I'm running the vision rack and it is dialed. The machined bushings fit tight! 12$ you can't go wrong with this. Plus it's a cool racer dude like us making them out of Portland.

P.s. I feel like I said embrace the slop a long long time ago too...? I might have to start digging. ;)
