90% of my slop is in the front arms. Carbon arms suck for the tracks I run and I have not tried the rpm yet. I grub screwed the rear hubs, so the rear is pretty decent.

It doesn't sound like the steering rack from any of the companies post takes away much slop. I would just purchase the one that gives you the extra tunning adjustments.

it doesnt sound like it does? ill tell you when i got mine in it removed about 2-deg of play in left to right for me... now the only play i have is in the servo link, may get the jconcepts ballcups to work there that are included, they are only 1mm too long.

replace that $2 plastic bulkhead with a fresh one, and bet it gets better :D

also i noticed using the carbon front brace that comes with the rear u-brace helps in the front too, since its drilled like the ft caster blocks.

that would be part of it. but I put 4mm of washer to replace the plastic spacer and it was p[erfect with new arms. now I have .5 to 1mm of play. But yeah, there is some slop inside. I was running the alum bulkhead, but it caused me to snap arms left and right.

is this the SP 17.5 you guys were talking about? I think it might be a good fit for my 8 years olds buggy. The timing does not adjust without inserts, right?

If it's the same as the one I've seen....the entire sensor "plug" swings left to right to increase timing. instead of spinning the cover like on Tekin's and what not..the plug/sensor board rotates. Pretty trick honestly.

Why do you need 4 ackerman adjustments? Splitting hairs IMO. There's countless other ways to affect the steering feel of the car.

Increasing Ackerman will tame the steering down and give you better high speed sweeper steering. Decreasing Ackerman will make the steering more aggressive high speed steering and give you better low speed 180 degree corner steering. So using the "Back" steering rack position will make your car a little easier to drive because it will tame down the steering, but it may also tame it down too much and make you too slow in the corners. I like a lot of steering in my cars so I only use the front steering rack position.

thats weird, i have had mine like that for 2 months and it hasnt gained ANY slop on the outside. and thats running twice a week.

Cody227 08-28-2013 12:03 PM

Yeah, you can rotate the entire sensorboard from 0* up to 10*. If you want more endbell timing i think you have to purchase a new sensorboard.

This is wrong, and not the point of my post. My point was that it wasnt necessary, as 99% of the people use the stock forward position and leave it there without issue.

As far as your "pro tip" on ackerman:

More ackerman = less high speed and more in low speed/180's and vice versa for less ackerman.

Cody227 08-28-2013 12:19 PM

i found the back position to work much better on high grip tracks and i would definitely choose more tuning options over less slop as that makes a bigger difference imho, especially ackerman. The question is if you'd actually use that extra tuning options

EricF 08-28-2013 12:33 PM

With all of this "embrace the slop" and who said it first I can't believe that not one of you has said that they heard it from (insert name here) your girlfriend! DOH!!

:ha: never said it was a pro tip, but I would take some tuning options over the slop debate any day. Yes you are right 99% of them use the forward position but I would also say 99% don't have the 4 position steering rack also to be fair.
The only person that I know that's running the vision rack is WIld Cherry maybe he has played with the different ackerman positions maybe not....

Daniel how are you liking Jamies HRV lipos?
I'm going to buy a couple next month.

4 Attachment(s)
I centered my transponder.....:ha:

Maybe my buggy will rotate better LOL....

I know I need to Black out all my wiring.

I'm going to put a little black tape down on the wires in the tray.

Anyone know where to buy that black carbon fiber look a like decal tape?

Thx...

HVR's are "DIALED". Plenty of punch with the shorties for blinky and the 45c 5000's are perfect for mod or 1/8 E buggy

I like having the transponder tucked away in front of the servo as shown below:
