I like aka reds also seems to hold up better than the prolines

Speed Freak RC 07-28-2013 11:35 AM

I run aka reds myself.

AKA are the best, they hold up the longest and provide the best "feel."

Avid ESC tray

Ran the Avid ESC sliding tray this past Sat at an indoor track. I ran a shorty pack with the receiver in the battery tray. My ESC is the Orion R10 on the tray fully forward. The rotation in the corners was unreal. The layout is really tight so the added rotation was much appreciated.

So anyone ever Dremel out the bottom of the shock tower? Doesn't seem like it really adds any stiffness and not having it would make it easier to work on the car using a shelf or tray mounted esc.

Only the ST ones are stiff. All the other ones are soft-medium.

Hi there. What are the best spur gears for associated cars, which are not loud. The ae ones are mostly not round enough and my rw spur gears dint fit good enough on the vts system.

I personally run the Avid Triad and its pretty quiet but I've heard the JConcepts Silent Speed spurs are quiet too... I've never tried those though.

rdeppen 07-29-2013 05:45 AM

I've run Kimbrough' AE, Jconcepts and none of them are as quiet as the Avid triad setup and a fresh Robinson pinion.

Had my first go with my b4.2 yesterday ..I haven't touched a 2wd since motorama. Took some time to get throttle control again. I was pretty much running box set up except for springs ...green fronts white rear after making changes through the.day I gained a lap .I'm looking forward to getting more trigger time ...

What was I thinking when I switched to dex210.

If you stay with the stock VTS slipper then run the Kimbrough gears. They are truer and quieter than the AE gears. The JC Silent Speed Are too thick and throw off the range of adjustability of the VTS. The Triad is much lighter system than the VTS and the spur gears run very true and quiet. The rotating mass is less on the Triad from Avid and would be ideal for blinky racing.
