I would try 30/27.5 to start in 17.5 if you are running the 1.6 kit pistons.

General setup knowledge (as to your shock oil question) - Search for the Hudy offroad setup guide, or this resource for some in depth knowledge: http://users.telenet.be/elvo/

I clicked that link to see if AE added any new setups. Looks like one was added and it used all the kit positions, but a 1.7mm piston setup. I love to see the kit setup in use by sponsored drivers.

What is the LHS chassis he is referring to?

Left Hand Side

Wildcat1971 08-20-2013 12:48 PM

ah, never heard it said that way. since the left hand side is default, why mention it several times in his setup. I tried to google it and all I got was local hobby shop, lol.

What effects does running heavier or lighter shock oil have. The track is large and I'm running shorty pack if that make a difference stock 17.5 class

The kit setup shock package is not a bad place to start. But I agree read the guide and view setup sheets as posted above.

yeah, the kits setup is pretty good. It seems that most people spend a bit of time getting the shock package they like. The rest of the people are playing with inline electronics just to see if its better. Start with the kit setup and the tires for your track. I would pickup a set of green fronts and green rears also. I have run the car on maybe a half dozen tracks and I always end up with green fronts and either green or white rears.

Thank you guys. Very helpful

I think the next time I go to the track I'm going to try brown front springs and black front springs just to see if I like it better, I'm still having set up issues, it seems like I either need more rear grip or from grip, it's never had the correct feeling

My B4.2 kit will arrive tomorrow - Can't wait to switch platforms. Sold my Losi 22.

have any of you looked at the setup sheet and setup chart that Ray Munday put together? This is the same setup sheet that's on AE site, but the chart looks like a great find. Start with his setup and then pick the conditions you run in.

I am in the same boat. I cant seem to find the feel I want. I am pretty close right now though. i also tried all of the springs that are reasonable and hated them all. I definitely think getting the shocks right for you is the key. I am almost there.

That chart is an excellent find. Very good for finding the setup that works best for you when tuning from the standard.
