Waflet, that just tells me that you are not ready for whichever motor you were running before the 17.5. I'm in the same boat (sort of). About a month ago my best run with a 7.5 was a 24 6:06. My best run with a boosted 17.5 was a 24 6:02, but the best run with the 7.5 was on the first night of a new layout, and the best 17.5 run was a month later. I know I can crack 25 if I put the 7.5 back in, and the traffic is right. The best 7.5 run was on a Tuesday. It was just the "buggy" class, and there were guys 8-10 laps off pace. You know how hard it is to go that fast with people going that slow?

Is this the B4.2 thread? Or, is this a thread entitled 'Discuss your lap times with different motors and traffic on a given night'?

I was under the impression there was no esc timing in blinky

Tracks that race blinky means that you can have no timing in the esc, but some like Waflets track may have an open class

Usually blinky though I think. Our 13.5 and 17.5 class is blinky.

Can anyone help me with the question about the setscrew size for doing the rear hub mod? Is 2/56 big enough? I dont want to weaken it by going to big.

Wild Cherry 08-04-2013 09:22 AM

DG

5-40 grub screw is what most use ..

Install two on each side of the hub ......

DG Designs 08-04-2013 09:25 AM

cool thanks. drill from underneath correct?

Thanks for the clarification.

I know this isn't b4.2 specific but it seems my xp ds1313 servo is getting hard to move side to side moving it by hand but still works while the car is on. This has happened to both my 1015's before and one 1015 recently stripped the plastic gear. The other 1015 has recently become difficult, almost impossible, to move by hand but still works while using the radio.

Is this normal for XP's right before they go? It seems a lot of people use XP or ace servos without many issues.

all three of these servos are in 1/10 2wd vehicles.

Are they from the new batch? Afaik TT has moved their manufacturing from Taiwan to China and all new Servos have big issues. My 1/2 year old 1015 also has electronical problems since a few weeks, but still works. I personally won't buy TT servos anymore... apperently TT doesn't know how important quality is in our hobby and will lose a lot of customers in the future

Yes this is what happens right before it goes. It was all of a sudden super difficult to move by hand and then in my next two runs it would cut out all of a sudden, surprisingly at the end of the straightaway. I bought a Futaba and all the steering problems went away.

BIGSKI15 08-04-2013 10:31 AM

They were all purchased within the past year.

I just remembered that the ds1313 in my 4wd buggy is the same way. I have two ds1313's and two ds1015's.

I'd like to possible switch brands but not sure of what other brands servo models are comparable to the 1313 and 1015, as far as, speed and torque. Let the research begin, i guess.

what do you think?

BIGSKI15 08-04-2013 11:53 AM

Which futaba servo did you get? I've looked at the bl45 as well as others.
