I think a little bit has to do with the results from the Cactus Classic. Seems like AE started looking/testing with MM (with more intensity) after that race.
I hope someone has a good telephoto lens at the nats this weekend! |

yeah, I grab the wires close to the connector and gently wiggle it out. I know that is stressing then and I need to cut back on motor swaping, lol. I put a new one in my kids car and she broke 4 of the wires in the main. luckily the HW esc's dont stop when the wires break, lol. I love the instant switch to sensorless. Helps reduce the DNF's. But her wires were not secured will and were very stiff. I am gonna stick with the tq flat wire for now and try to reduce taking my motor and esc out so much.

I don't know how long they have been available but I ordered the new jconcepts ball cups today through amain. I waited too long to order the jc carbon plate so I jumped on the ball cups.

Discovered last night when using the shorty ?
Install the pack all the way forward . Car picked up few tenths each lap . Improves steering , car can be pushed harder entering the corner . Was using a 1/2 a thin foam block in front of shorty , now nothing ... |

Are you using a shelf or in the tray?
Using the ESC In the tray currently, a small or subtle difference in performance between either way . A lighter car is what I have been experimenting with of late . The Shorty's lighter weight & position in the tray makes for big differences compared to shelf's, ect ....:batman: |
I noticed quite a bit of difference, given everything else in the set-up to be the same, between shelf and tray. I thought the shelf made the car react too quickly and dump the rear end reducing the ability to really push the car hard. Whereas, dropping the esc into the tray reduced this effect and still allowed for minor battery placement adjustments forward and backward as the track changes thru the race day. I think to run the tray you have to play with some dampening to reduce this.

ESC in the tray is real good. One step stiffer spring in the rear makes it even better.
|
Yea but isn't it illegal to run it in The tray?

so, the esc in the tray. I dont care about roar, so yeah. I think the esc shelf is fine. My issue with the tray mount is protection. sandwiching pads does not seem the best idea. Yaiba came out woth a shelf with a "stop" on it so you can servo take the esc in and the shelf stops the pack from coming back. I also hase a nice cooling fan option for cooling the esc while in the tray. But the shelf comes out kinda far and battery placement would be limited. The I though an L shaped bracket made from alum might work, but again locked into positions. Several of the "newer' cars on the market, have movable battery stops on the chassis. This would be nice, but I dont see anyone making a new chassis with 1/4 in spaced mounting positions for stops. So an easy "fix" might be an alum L shaped plate that you servo tape into place. then mount the esc to it and servo tape it in as far back as you can, then you can use pads between the plate and the pack and space it forward or back for tuning. The other idea I had was a shelf like the Yaiba, but it and multiple positions to put the battery stop. One of which is pack fill forward. then move back 1/4 inch at a time and make more positions. then you could use it as a shelf or put the esc under it. then cooling on the esc might be an issue......maybe smaller fan in the middle, the battery position screws outside the fan diameter.

Sorry wrong thread!

I have my ESC in the tray, about 1/2" away from the shorty. Last weekend my buggy took a number of nasty tumbles, got whacked in a fast sweeper (ballcup even popped off), but the battery didn't budge. I don't think you really need a pad between it and the ESC.
