Team Associated B4.2 Thread

I find it hard to believe that it's from a crash, but I've got a big gap at the top of my gear cover on my B4.2, and a sizable one on my T4.2.
I ordered new RPM coveers, thinking it was the AE covers that were junk, but alas...I've come to the conclusion that the ALUMINUM FT MOTOR PLATE is BENT!!!
My thought is to replace them, but wanted to hear from you guys if it's happened to you. I even considering warping from heat but figured, no way.
I see that some guys have switched to a solid plate...hmmm...

The durability of the motor plate is in indirect relation to the number of times you land on your rear end. Prior to the current layout I had only bent 1 motor plate (full speed into the wall at the end of the 100' straight, in the air, backwards
). The new layout has 5 big jumps in a row with a very short lead up. Anything 4wd can double triple, but to do it with a 2wd takes hitting it exactly perfectly. I'm not perfect
. I've gone through 2 AE & 2 avid motor plates before deciding to just stay with the safe single double double

Wow you are HARD on your stuff. Good move on backing it off a notch. Why didn't you do that 4 motor plates ago? I mean if you hit that section perfect every lap but one, you still lose time. Forget the motor plates, think what it is doing to your lap times. The point of racing is to do well, why stifle your result by trying a section you can't handle? Is racing so difficult for you that you get too caught up to think? I guess I have been doing this so long that I forget what it's like to have such a hard time with stuff. Not trying to sound like a jerk, just trying to figure out how other people do what they do.

I bent quite a few plates on the top from landing on my wing. I put on the jconcepts aluminum wing mounts and haven't had one bend since. Had one bend in the back from getting a 1/8 e buggy to the motor during practice, fixed that by pulling my car when a ebuggy is out on the track.

I am getting back into electrice after several years out (before brushless). Is the MIP top shaft still a must? I know it made a huge difference back in the day in my B3, but did not know if they are still valuable now over the steel ones.
Thanks.
Thanks.
