Bringing this over from brother B44.2 forum to the B4 forum....

It's a great technical discussion Raz and UN4 are having but what most racers need to take away from this ride height discussion is:

For 99.9% of tracks the whole 44 series cars like a front height of 22-21 and a rear height of 20-21.... Set it and be done.

On the b4.1 n 4.2 this would be between 24mm front and rear?

aeRayls 01-20-2013 10:50 PM

For the b4 it's between 23-24.5 front and rear. The b4 hates being too low, especially in the rear. It numbs the car out.

Always start at 24 f/r

In really high grip lower it a tad to 23-23.5 fr/rr

In low grip 24-24.5 fr/rr

Don't forget....

Tires wear , worn tires ride a couple mm lower then fresh thread.
So you never just set the height & forget it ..
Check it before each heat is the best ...

Running proline suburbs mc compound front and rear with Pro lines cc insert. 2* anti squat, no toe on front 3* on rear. Neg Camber 0 to .5 in front 1 in rear. Ballast weight and 1/4 oz in front triangles. Two washers on bump steer, Ackerman is forward hole, running avid steering with carbon top plate. It was not bad, got better but my b4.1 rtr basher turns better. Indoor small track medium to high bite. Pretty wet, I came off the track a few times with a lot of dirt stuck on the tires and they felt a little slimy. Ordered some bar codes for the rear to try out next week. Any suggestions on what to try? Fellow racer suggests 25 weight in rear shock which I will try maņana, indoor track but about 45-50 degrees though. Was also going to go to black spring inrear see if that helps.

gonna say sorry now about the spelling..lol

MANY MANY MANY racer and especially newer racer over look ur radio SETUP also is it a diff speedo an motor/gearing/battery/all different weight there alone what about servo brands and spec. i would start fresh..
100left/100right EPA
100 DUALRATE
Check steering an throttle reversing
steering trim in the middle
throttle trim in the middle
subtrim for throttle and steering @ 0
Steering Expo/arc/speed @o%
Throttle Expo/arc/Speed @0%

1) measure front steering link so there the exact same size/same as camber links
2)Make it so the include servo horn with the Blue washer that goes over it is used and now since everything is perfectly striaght as possible except the instruction ask for u to have 1 or 2 spines to to driver side of the car.. now tighten up the servo, servo horn, an mount to chassis
3) Asumming u have the link made up the right size that goes from the servo horn to the bellcrank. ( Prob gonna have to had 2 click to the right on the steering sub trim to make it now that the horn is striaght. (NOT THE QUICK TRIM BUTTON U HAVE IF ITS PULLING TO ONE SIDE)
4)put on a pair of unmounted front rims since u already know that left an right toe links an left an right camber links are the same size it will be equal turns.. measure the front of the cars inner distance from rim to rim ( urnumber u measure from the front of the rim will be bigger the the rear and that will give u a slight toe out)
OFF THE TOP OF MY HEAD if u make ur steering rods length from center of ballcup to center of ball and u come to 2.8870in or 73.5mm should give u around neg -.5 toeout on each side and if ur camber links measurein around2.6810in or 68.10mm and that will get u close to neg -5 camber.
5) Now get car ready to be if u were going out on the track. Set your rideheight, cambers
6) do the 1 touch on ur speedo an radio system.
7)turn the wheel max to the right while in the air subtract epa just to it stops hitting arm
8)turn the wheel to the left while in the air or on a car stand and stop the throw just like the right.. NOW REMEMBER U WILL NEVER HAVE A PERFECTepa left to right but wanna be with it 10 points
9) Drop car bout kneww high so sus settle an see if u can or have to take or add epa if u can gain more or if ur binding still
10) do the HAlf moon test so u can see if ur car turns even on both side and adjust for it... normally 3/4 lane radius..
11) now if you need to add or subbtract steering increase or decrease ur dualrate

Blue screw,

Have you used or know for sure if buggy wheels fit on that much more tire sander??? I'm worried about clearance issues since they are much taller and deeper than TC wheels.

I have been running the same ball diff since August...

As you probably guessed, it really bad now.

Well I need to rebuild, what parts are going to need to be replaced?

I would like to do all ceramic balls this time.

Thanks!

exactly... never asume ur rideheight and camber adjust are the same cause u havent changed tires...

BOB, here how i mount on my rims very close to u but not
say im mount a gold jc barcode with aka red
1- i will punch holes in therubber tire an aka insert with the tire punch and then marke the date/ and runs on the insert before u put it in the tire...
2- kinda roll the insert in and get fitting nice in the tire
3-spray motor spray on towel and clean beads of the tire
4- light mist of windex to ativate the newer style of ca the using trust me it does work it makes it feel like the orginal losi red glue..
5-mount tire on rim work it around make sure its all sitting right in the bead
6- GLUE up the tire
7- now i mark on the rims this
GOLD V1 / AKA / RUNS
BARCODE / RR / 1111111------- so u know how many runn it too to get this height plus when u do reuse the insert u can see how many time u reused by marking????

any other suggestions???

Cridd, on our local track, a lot of people run barcodes up front with 3/4 rear regular foam. The cc inserts in the front do cause a push unless they're broken in. It's worth trying a different set of tires. Maybe see if you can borrow a pair from someone else to try out first, but the different foam would make a big difference.

Venon

Get the Ae ceramic 3/32 diff balls & a set of fresh diff rings , all you need .
The kit thrust bearing can wear forever should not need to be replaced .
You can replace the thrust with new to be on safe side .

No will need for ceramic 5/64 balls however ...

Had better diff action using the smaller ceramic thrust balls, stock AE diff balls or equivalent. I also flip both types of rings to the unworn side and reuse. I am assuming you have the necessary greases, etc.

There was a guy selling some nice ceramic balls on the thread for a cheap price, they work very well.
