I FINALLY put the 12mm shocks on my car last night :D

Starting out with 1.7 37.5 3 limiters black springs / 1.7 35 2 limiters white springs.

Will stay with that for a bit then try the 1.6 setup and eventually down the road. I think 1.7 will be better for the tracks out east here that we are on since they are lower bite, less big jumps, more small rutted out stuff.

what is the thickness of a shock limiter? wanting to confirm what is in the big bore kyoshos I have versus the accepted size of 1 limiter.

I did the spec set up and ran the 30 wt in front and 27.5 in rear, think I am going to try the 32.5 in front....should that help with turning?

Dialed !!!!!
If your grip comes up even more ?
Try firmer ft spring ...

Wildcat1971 01-17-2013 11:32 AM

Yeah, I plan to try the 1.7 shock package next week. With the 1.6 package, I am very inconsistent. I just dont feel comfortable with the car and have lost seconds since switching from v2's

grip coming up is not usually something we have to worry about out here LOL. I just was at the CRCRC race and it was culture shock. Everyone else was like 'oh this is normal grip'. I was out to lunch, breakfast, and dinner too.

actually snapped a chassis in half on first practice run :(

Damn chicane of Death! :flaming:

If you're looking for grip, then I'd recommend the 1.6 over the 1.7 along with softer springs. The 1.6 let you use lighter oils, which allow for better low speed dampening. Combined with lighter springs, you'll get the weight to transfer faster, creating more grip.

Is your home track Bumps and Jumps?

Bob Barry 01-17-2013 11:41 AM

yeah Bumps & Jumps and SJRC.

I was wonders the same. I was using 30/27.5 with the 1.6's in 40 degree weather. I wonder if i should drop oil wight when it is that cold. That was the same weights I ran in 105 deg summer weather. The buggy just feels kinda stiff.

Wildcat1971 01-17-2013 11:46 AM

Wow Bob. I have heard people say they broke the chassis, just never seen it. Full speed into an immoveable object?

Bob Barry 01-17-2013 12:10 PM

Yeah that full yank out of the turn, thought I was pushing wide to the left over corrected some and hit that right pipe. All my friends laughed at me and everyone of them broke in the same spot. And alot more parts too. Aside from a CVA pin snapping, that was my only break.

Temps definitely change your shock setup. Especially as drastic as yours. Try 5-7 1/2 weight lighter. Sounds thin for oil but 40 deg temps are a bit extreme

Bob
That dirt doesn't have near the grip that it used to. It is still high bite but compared to over a year ago I would call it medium bite. Curt plays with it all the time changing the conditions. I am looking forward to the mulch pit coming back.
