Isnt that what you're supposed to do? I mean c'mon, they gave us 12mm hex's front and rear. I think with 4wd fronts on the back and esc mounted on the motor cover would work real good, but you need the sc10 motor cover because it has that flat area for better mounting haha

Semi related, removed all the anodizing off the team parts and the Savox servo:

Are you running that cap cause you need it or just to have it with that Savox servo? Just curious cause I use radiopost also and wondering how those Savox servos hold up with it.

I run it as more of a "piece of mind" thing. They are only 7$ and I'd rather run it and not need it than the other way around

This car is more fun every time I take it on the track! Last night I was testing different slipper settings and wanted some feedback from others. The setting that I was fastest with caused the slipper to overheat and begin slipping a ton. My temp gun said it was running ~150 F. I tightened it up a bit and ran some more. I didn't care for the feel as much but it was consistent over 10 minutes. When I took it off the track it was "only" 135 F. It seemed like the VTS slipper had a distinct point where it would over heat and stop working.

My question is has anyone ran the AVID Triad or Garodisc pads against the VTS? Would it be possible to run them looser and not have the fall off? Or could I just add a vented motor plate and see a drop in slipper temps?

Wildcat1971 03-01-2013 12:12 PM

I like the avid very much. But i am not even sure it would like 150 deg. I have tried the vts, but I didnt have the high performance spring (lol), so hard to compare. I have heard of people mis setting or building the avid wrong and melting the spur. I never really had an issue. A few weeks ago, my slipper loosened up. First time ever in 4+ months of use. Avid is coming out with some new pads and they might work better for people that like a lot of slip. The only downside for the triad is the special spurs. If you dont mind that, I would try one out.

If the slipper slipping felt the best, ease up on your trigger finger, or go to a slower wind motor. Are you running mod?

-WHEELMAN- 03-01-2013 12:30 PM

Never tried the AVID but I like the VTS in mod but think the added weight isn't a good thing for stock. When I run 17.5 I go back to the regular slipper assembly.

Bob Barry 03-01-2013 12:37 PM

I took the VTS off for 17.5. I don't have the Avid or I would run that. Regardless, if you re slipping that much, you are doing it wrong. Remember, the slipper isn't a tool for traction, it's a 'shock' for your tranny.

+1 traction control is your finger.

Razathorn 03-01-2013 12:54 PM

I run my VTS really tight. All of my cars do backflips if I grab full throttle from a stop. Traction control is definitely in the finger.

Sometimes you gotta blip from a tiny take-off for the fast line aka "my people need me."
