We're still testing and trying to decide between TiNi and DLC. No ETA on those, but we are still working on them.

What about the carbon towers?

I've been using these since I got the 410. At the price, I got two sets just for gits n shiggles. I also got a slew of nut drivers, a body hole reamer, several arm hole reamers, and other odds n ends all with this handle style and for less than $100. I also got a bit set, but unfortunately, found out the hard way the "hex" is smaller than typical power drivers. That is the only negative I have to say, at this time.

was looking at those myself, ordered the reamers but as I had smooth handled drivers before I wanted something with numbs for better grip and the passthrough like the AE's have.

When the reamers come in depending on what I think of them may order the nut drivers.

I'm just getting back into RC after a long lay-off. The only track near me is off road and I hadn't run in the dirt since I first started racing 25 years ago. I wanted something used and rugged to start so I bought an Xray 808 converted to an SCT. I've been driving it for about 6 weeks and I have to admit that I have beat this poor truck half to death trying to learn to jump and drive on an extremely slick and bumpy dirt track. Being an Xray it just took it and smiled at me. Never broke a thing.

I've been following this thread since it started and the more I read the more I wanted one of these trucks. Well about a half hour ago I checked Tower and they had them in stock so I used their $50 off coupon and free shipping and snagged one!

I don't know if Techno torture tested this truck, but it's about to get one now. I'm improving as a driver but it's still not a thing of beauty. I'm 64 so my reflexes and my eyesight aren't what they once were. If the Techno survives me they can run an ad proclaiming it the toughest SCT on the market and use a film of one of my practice days as proof.

Can't wait to get this truck and start the build!!!

I'm 58, so I've been doing some "testing" of my own, lol. Its tough as nails. Plus I've let quite a few people drive it ( one showed up Tues with a Tekno, lol) It is holding strong, nothing loosening up or anything. Motor up, throw it down, floor it!!

I have a comment on this. I'm a journeyman Tool-Maker, have been for 20 years. In all my years of experience out of these cotatings, Ti-Nitride, DLC, Tialn. Tialn is the best coating I've ever seen. I have all my carbide endmills coated in this and the difference in tool life is nothing short of amazing. I have actually had my shock shafts coated with this coating and as long as I don't bend the shaft I just keep on using them. I still have the original shafts on my Tekno V4 RC8.2E since I picked up the kit when It was released. I also have this coating on my losi 8ight e 2.0 shafts since 2009.

Danny, I would for sure look into this, do some testing and I guarantee you will be very satisfied. I have even gone as far as doing shafts for my friends at the local track and they always come back with rave reviews. Tell me and others what you think. I'm sure you have used these type of endmills on your cnc's at one point.

Here is a link with more info.... Note they always say it main use is for high heat applications, but for shock shafts I've found nothing that compares, the only other thing that comes close would be to run ceramic, or carbide in solid form but that will add extra weight when using carbide, and ceramic is just to damn brittle.

http://www.tincoat.net/TiAlN.html Best coating I have ever seen as far as wear resistance.

Guys what is a fair price to pay for one of these kits? How much did you pay?

A fair price? Whatever you have to pay to get one ASAP!:lol:

Has anyone run a 4s setup in the SCT. How does it perform?

Was thinking of use some of my extra 8th scale electrics. Will they fit? The SCT look so similar to the EB. I only race with friends, so don't care much about the rules.

Just finished installing some new hardware to shave some weight off. Installed the Durango 5x48 camber linkes, and 4x60 steering rods. 20 titanium screws from a Mugen MBX7 lower titanium screw set. 5 Kyosho 5mm button head screws. All told, I dropped about an ounce off the truck. Mugen ti screw kits are a pretty good deal. And Kyosho ti screws are fairly cheap, for ti screws.

Still haven't cut, drilled, or shaved any of the stock plastic off the side guards or the rear bumper. With slicks and a nanotech 6000 battery, the truck weighs 6.58 lbs race ready. I think replacing all of the camber/steering link ball ends, and the sway bar ends, with aluminum versions will alone shave another ounce off the truck. Those are some beefy pivot balls, and alot of steel material. Or just wait for the CF shock towers.

Thanks for the heads up, I'll see if we can get a few samples to test.

You might need some longer battery straps if you have big lipos, but otherwise a straight drop in application
