Looking for a little setup help for a very tight track, our indoor track is maybe 70Lx40w so lanes are very tight, I feel on a normal sized track what I am having trouble with wouldn't be a problem but I'm having issues with corner exit push. A quick jab on the brakes to square up the corner corrects the issue but loses time.
Truck is box stock minus middle and rear braces, running megabites f&r |

RX8's have been pretty standard for how much an ESC can take too, because they've been THE standard in 8th scale. The original set of gen 1 rx8's had problems where you looked at a landing funny and they popped, but that has been fixed for a long time now. I'm not claiming you didn't see several pop, but I've been racing for 2 years now at several facilities and only seen 1 rx8 go up and fail, with just about everybody running them. I've had an SCT Pro have issues, several castle ESCs fail, and the only person I knew running a Novak had the ESC melt. Are any of those common occurrences just because I saw them more often? Nope, but they happen. The point is that most ESCs are pretty reliable these days unless you mount them to the chassis *coughLosi* and end up flat landing or doing serious chassis flex nose dives or something. The SCT Pro is not really "as good as" the RX8 or the RX8 Gen2, especially in the options setting department (though the 3.1 is just as good or even better for options...but not an SC ESC) and the capability to do HV. I've run 2 RX8s and 2 Gen2 RX8s, the originals for a year and a half now and the Gen2's since they came out, without any issues. That being said, all 3 ESCs deliver good power and the SCT Pro is a lot cheaper and still a very good quality ESC in most instances (don't try to run TenShock though), so it is possibly a better value. An important note about the HW for anybody that wants it. Make sure you get it from Falcon or BuiltRC so that you are getting the US Retail channel (assuming of course, you're in the US). If you buy it from someplace like hobbypartz or funshobby, you won't get warranty support, and even DOA's are hard to deal with. I've gotten the HW stuff I keep using (mainly my SC motor) from BuiltRC and they're really good and quick to handle both orders and issues. Contrast that with Tekin where, as long as you bought it at a reputable shop, they'll fix/replace/service it etc as quickly as they can, all here in the US (which is usually quite quick, but was horrifically slow while they were waiting on the 2.0 to ship...they did send 2.0's out as 1.0 replacements though as customer service due to that though). Both are good, but please, leave the Tekin or HW or whatever bashing to another thread. Saying your thoughts on something once without telling everybody else their stuff sucks is probably sufficient. </rant> |

while it may not be advertised as an "SC ESC", it handles the application beautifully. i've used the V3 in my tekno since release and it's been flawless.

Good to know I might try it out. I ran an SCT pro and loved it although the limited tuning was a drawback

Try running with the center and then the center and rear braces on. Super easy and might get it for you. I would give that a shot before I started playing with roll centers.
Maybe swap the sway bars too so the stiffer one is in the rear. Then zero front toe, more toe gives corner entry, less toe gives corner exit. One thing at a time till you get what you want.

If you're only pushing coming out of the turn, I'm guessing this is only on power, making the truck squat more. If that is the case, you can also try limiting your front droop a little bit more to keep more weight to the front on power.

what's really nice is when it's paired with the 4000kv hobbywing motor, you can use the boost/turbo to fine tune power to different tracks. on our small indoor track i run with no timing. on the larger outdoor tracks i've run, i've used anywhere from 5-25 degrees of timing (split between boost/turbo). esc has never seen above 110 and the motor 150.

i'm using a hobbywing V3 speedo.

Thanks Didn't know it would be there. A thousand plus pages intimidated me

Speaking of this I met a guy this week at the track running that esc motor combo(might have been you) and I really am impressed with the size of the setup as a whole. I mean with my RX8g2 and Tenshock SC411 I am fighting for space, it is sort of a pain to get at everything. He said the performance is just as good and I am seriously thinking of switching just for that reason.
