I run the SCT Pro in my 410 and EB48. I was having some Tekin problems and decided to make the switch. I really like them and enjoy using the programming card. I used to always drag my laptop to the track just in case someone needed the hotwire.

Normally I run Revtech 4-poles but I did try a HW 4700 the other day with a 14T and 22.5° of timing in the ESC and it really was the fastest thing on the track. Small indoor clay track, came off at 130° after a 6 minute main.

I'm very cost minded and the cost to replace a RX8 out of warranty is more than a brand new SCT Pro.

10 min. mains using a VTX8 set on #3, 16 tooth, 7200 SMC battery, runs in at 140 max with a HW 4000.
Perfect set up in my book.

In SC 4x4 it's the best $80 I've spent. The Hobbywing combo is only $185 that's motor, ESC and program card. The 4700 is as fast as you will ever need, it will pass nitro buggies on the straight, and even when it's 100 outside it runs cooler than my Tekin setups I've run.
Also 14 tooth could be too low and that could actually cause heat issues just like overhearing. I run a 16 with the 4700 on outdoor tracks. Neither have been over 150

Where's a good place to get the hw stuff? Hobbypartz? Any other
The 4700 is a 4 pole 540 correct?
Is it really worth the extra $150 or so for the rx8/4300 combo? I mean I've never ran either but really want to try tekin for the quality but if hw is up par in quality and performance, why spend the extra money? I've basically only ran castle and Novak(only once and never going there again).
Do they handle savox servos? I don't want to run anymore external bec.

Tore everything down to nuts and bolts, everything is nice and free.

That is my only reservation, not quite the "pop" I'm used to, however all the reviews and comments seem to be quite positive. Being so cheap ($185 for esc/motor/programming card) I'm just going to try it. Even if it's not quite the same level, it would make a decent enough backup since it's 4s capable I could use it in ebuggy as well.

I have a Tenshock sc401, but sensorless, so no go with the VTX8. I did run this combo (VTX8, HW 4700kV) in my old 4wd SC (Durango), and it was the most ludicrous thing ever. Without question the fastest thing on the track. I did replace the sensor wire once for not starting off 0rpm. And now the motor doing the same, but multiple new sensor wires will not fix it. Maybe the sensor board has been going bad, and the Durango was just light enough not to get hot. The VTX8 being sensored-only I certainly would imagine simply can't run quite as cool as a dual mode esc.

I get all of my HW stuff from http://www.falconsekido.com

I use a Radiopost receiver and a Savox 1258 servo. I have a Novak glitch buster in the SC. The glitch buster carried over from RX8/Spektrum mess I had going before. I honestly never tried it without a cap since I also have a 50mm fan in there.

Also run the radiopost/savox 1256 in the E-buggy with a glitch buster but same situation. Didn't hurt to keep the cap in there.

For those of you on specktrum when I put a new pro rx in my b4.2 with a savox 1258 and a RS gen2 I didn't need a glitch buster anymore. Just an FYI. However I did need one with the same setup with the normal spectrum rx on my sc10.

Awesome, that's pretty cheap.
So performance to performance (runtime (varies I know), smooth operation, speed and power, liability) how do they compare?
The external bec would kill the deal though.

I'm happier with my tekin products and don't mind the price at all, after all we spend on this hobby 100$ isn't anything, my old hobbywing combo was plenty powerful and ran cool although the BEC was weak, tekin is plenty powerful, runs cool, smoother and has great support, either way both are great combos

+1

builtrc is an authorized hobbywing dealer so all warranties are honored. plus, he has the fastest shipping in the biz, especially if you're on the westcoast.
