Before you go buy tires go ask the good drivers what tires they run for the class you need tires for and what compound, I bought clay handlebars for my tekno and they didn't hook up for nothing at my track even with a bunch of sauce, ss barcodes and ss wishbone v2s work good at my track

+1

what works one place may not at others even though the basic description of the surface in question is the same.

More Ti bits to go on before this weekend. Camber rods are usually the best bang for the buck replacing a lot of steel.

Anyone run the XERUN SCT Pro combo? I've ran the 3656, more curious about the esc. My RX8 went up in flames at Southern Nats in ebuggy, and I've had nothing but heat problems with the VTX8 in the sct410. Just looking at trying something else.

What are your settings on the VTX8 and what kind of temps are you getting?
Mine hasnt been over 145 after an 8min main in mid 90's ambient temps.
Maybe I can help you get those temps down.

Good to know, I've also thought about getting a pro4hd to try as well. I'm running dual shorties in my sct410, so its a portly ole' girl and the HD might be a touch better for the heft.

Pretty much profile #3, I did change to Race Open (didn't touch timing) instead of Blinky, and cranked the BEC up. I've played with the throttle freq to no avail, and limited forward power to where I had trouble clearing jumps. Running a 14t pinion, which is much lower than anyone else. Ran a 16t but the VTX8 went into thermal in roughly 4 minutes. I usually saw about 185° on the esc, motor (HW 3656) close to 200°. Sorta weird as it would get that hot fairly early into a run, but never would get hotter. Unfortunately the heat has done it's damage to the motor, and it no longer would start from 0 rpm.

Either way, the VTX8 is now in my eBuggy and I'm really liking it. Much smoother than the RX8, and I have no temps problems. I need an esc and motor now for my sct, just looking at potentially trying something else. If a RX8 Gen2/pro4hd combo wasn't damn near $350.

Cool

Shawn are you sure you have no binding in the drive train? Those temps are crazy dude Like Kevin said i run a novak ballistic with rx8 in 90+ temps here in south florida and never get above 160 on either. Thats with stock spur and a 18 tooth pinion. With timing on both motor and speedo. We also run 10 minute mains.

Not the combo you are asking about but I run the novak activ8 esc and novak ballistic 4.5t 550 can in my scte and now the tekno. In the tekno my gearing is stock spur 15t pinion and 20degs of timing and my punch is 3 out of 10. The track is med-large indoor hard packed dirt with med-high bit. My motor temps after 6mins is 141 and the esc is at 90degs.

I have used the hobbywing system in a scte 2.0 with no issues. It is a great system. I like the smoothness, the power band and setting the timing to certain rpms that the novak offers. I think tekin offers that as well. It's a great feature.

have you tried another motor with the VTX8 on 2S? wondering if there is something specific to the motor that is causing heat issues you are seeing.

If you have a chance and a motor to try, bind one up in your e buggy since that is where the VTX8 is and set it up for 2S (love the profiles, makes it easy to switch). Give it a run and see how it goes. I seem to recall something about some motors causing issues.

I haven't had any heat issues with my HW 4000Kv combo at all with my VTX8. And since you are using it in E-buggy and it seems to work good there from the impression I am getting, I wonder if its the motor that caused the issue.

Outside of that, the HW combo you mentioned from what people are saying seems to work fine, though, i am not sure it will deliver the raw power you are used to with say an RX8 or VTX8. Probably along the lines of what my daughter sees with her current SP GT2.0 Pros I am thinking, maybe a bit more.
