Xray XB4 thread

Got to run my first race with my first XB4 this past weekend and was really impressed with the car and platform.
Since I was still finishing the build/wiring at the track Saturday morning (got it Wednesday and built it Thursday & Friday) I didn't get any track or test time on it, so my qualifiers were my testing, LOL.
I only had to do some minor changes after each qualifier and the car felt better each time out. I was able to turn faster laps and even break into the 18 lap mark compared to my prior platform and managed to put the XB4 into the Amain, sitting 7th out of 12.
Only real probably was running on new M4 Primes that were not broken in yet so had some slight push. By the time the mains rolled around the tires felt a lot better.
Next week have a big trophy race coming up, and thinking about trying the 12* Caster Blocks, car seemed a little twitchy at times.
I started out with 8k-300k-5k for diffs and 4dot and 2 dot springs with 37.5 and 30 wt losi oil and the 2x1.6 pistons and medium chassis braces
I ended up with mainly changing the springs and ride 4dot front and 3 dot rears and settling on 21 ride ht.
The track is med/high bite clay/dirt mixture and M4 or any SS tires (slicks or ghost pins) preferred

also go up to 500k or 1m cst center diff oil. run 1 mil for the fastest car but it will be harder to drive and forces you to drive aggressive.

Question, my local track ordered me a xb4 and it came in today. Was supposed to get a 2017 but like I have read the 17 isn't out yet so the track informed me they got a 16 edition in for me. Is it worth to get the 16 or should I wait for the 17?

There were no significant upgrades in the 17 I believe they are including velcro now with the 17.... Stick with the 16 and maybe press for a little discount.

Yeah I'm getting it for a decent price. What 12mm hexes will I need ? I see xray offers multiple different ones. I haven't seen anything information wise on the 17 yet. You have link for it?

I run the 5.5mm fronts and 9mm rear from Exotec Racing... you will also want to order the Aluminum CVD collar for this car as well you will need 6 pieces.

Xray +0.75 hex front and +1.50 rear makes the buggy really stable, kyosho zx6 2.2 rim front TLR 2.2 rim rear.

There is a list of what's changed somewhere around, all of it should fit the '16 & some of it, you might not want anyway.

Xray almost never makes a new one off car. Parts from the 2013 car still fit the 2016 and you can bet the 2017 will just be more minor improvements and changes in geometry just like they do every year.

Sounds like a few changes... 14mm hexes move to 12mm which is a welcomed change. I don't think you will see anything super different.
This buggy is the best kept secret in RC.

New front tower I believe with added link hole.
I just bought a 16 2wks ago since not able to wait, since my indoor season would be more than half over.
I'll pick up the new front tower once available

Ok this is sounding good. I doubt I will ever race on carpet or super high grip. Our track is meduim bite clay, we use super soft tires like dirt webs and electrons. How is the stock setup out the box for medium bite clay?
