just get the metal internal diff gears and hardened pins. One less thing to worry about breaking.

What are the major beneficial upgrades between the xb4 2014 & 2015? I see they list a bunch of "updated" stuff, but what actually matters? And those that matter, can we just add those things to the 2014 to have it up to date?

For your 2014' Just get the metal bevel 35T gears and the 14T metal pinion gears that mates together. Upgrading a '14 to a '15 is more costly than getting a new kit altogether. Read back in this thread for more info and part numbers.

@raved007, I got the pins at AMain.

I race on a fairly large 1/10th scale track, 22-24second lap times in mod 4wd,it's an outdoor but covered track, and most consider it to be med-high traction clay. We still use super soft or Jconcepts black compound and I run 8k front, 3k rear and this summer I'll start with 500k center diff and go down to 300k then 100k as needed. No sway bars.

I'm not sold on the metal gears, guy at our track has already stripped a set (suzukipro) and were running same motor/esc/gearing and his motor comes off 40° hotter in the main. Also I have had my '14 for a year now and have yet to have a ring/pinion strip out (knock on wood LOL).

If your stripping gears , my first thought would be to check your slipper, if your running a gear center diff it could just be the fact of being too on throttle or off throttle when landing . Just a thought.

Thanks I'm just testing the waters with the 4wd mod class.

I Didn't have that great of an outing for my first time, but it was all new to me. New track, new drivers stand orientation, and new car. When everything was going good, the car handled great, very happy. But didn't complete any of my heats/mains. Chewed up pinion gear in one heat, and broke a hinge pin 2 laps into the B main. First heat I didn't have full power, and battery issues didn't help. Very nimble car, and it responded well. I'm Looking forward to next month. I liked the easy access to the rear diff.

It was suggested to get aluminum hubs on all 4 corners, and the metal covers for the pins. I might leave it as is for a while, and see how it goes though. My local indoor track is converting to astro this month, so I'll go over everything and have it ready for that.

yeah not running center diff yet just like the other guys at the track, I am waiting to get the center diff.

I inspected the ring gear and that one is good, just the metal pinion gear is not doing well.

Anyone running Losi shock oil? I'm sure this has been discussed before but I'm trying to figure out if the xray 400cst is close to Losi 32.5wt.

I'm pretty sure the 400cst is closer to 40 weight.
