Have any of you guys messed with arm sweep? I saw some recent posts about it in the sct410 thread and now i'm intrigued. The truck comes stock setup arms swept back, but the buggy stock setup is at zero arm sweep. I'm more of a "stable/easier to drive" kind of guy and the buggy seems pretty twitchy stock. It's fast, but i feel like it gets out of shape pretty easy with my driving style. (have to much grip in some areas, and it likes to flip over if i push it too hard). I've tried less negative camber ( less contact patch when cornering, hence less traction , or traction rolling), but it still feels like i'm putting on a bandaid for the problem. I built mine by the book. Car feels to knimble to me. Cant decide where to start as far as setup. Car does not feel planted at all. I like to drive more smooth and be able to push the car when needed. With stock setup its either drive slow and smooth or super strapped.
Any suggestions where to start? Im coming from a losi ebuggy that is very dialed but really wore out and needing too much work to be reliable. Thanks for the time guys.

I agree that with stock setup it feels too nimble and isn't very easy to drive. I'm like you and prefer a more stable car that i can push without fear of it getting out of shape. You can read my post i quoted above and see if you're having similar problems. I'm really digging the truck, but the buggy isn't setup for my tastes. Anybody got any advice?

If you guys are looking for a setup to start with I HIGHLY recommend Curtis Door's setup. He gave me his setup a couple weeks ago and that is what I have been working with.

Then, if you are still too loose:
Ditch the rear +1mm hexes.
Go with a stiffer front sway bar. (I'm up to 2.6mm)
Lay the rear shocks down one hole or move the entire shock in one hole.
Move the rear camber link down.
Notice that he is running 4 degrees of rear toe though. He has a prototype rear toe block that gives him +.5 degrees of toe.

To the guys that are experiencing loose rear ends. Lol. Anyways, first ditch the antisquat. Make it as nil as possible. Some people are spreading misinformation on here. Antisquat increases are not going to help with a loose rear. You want it to squat and transfer a little weight back there. Also max out your rear toe in. I run 5-5-1 in the diffs in almost all conditions I found 3 k too heavy in the back. I also flipped the stock sways. The heavier in front and the lighter in back. I run 35F 30R shock oils and stock pistons, Durango white rear springs (stiffer). If I need to tighten it up more I shorten the rear wheelbase.
Set your steering up for max travel and then take your dual rate and back off the steering to about 75%. Then increase as necessary. That helps immediately with "loose" rears.

It's not an issue of it being loose. If anything, i have too much grip, and it hooks up too well, causing me to traction roll in some areas of the track. So my tires are fine. I changed my camber last weekend before the main, didn't see how much of a difference it made, due to me breaking a front shock shaft before the race even started.
(totally my fault). I'm not ready to completely start over yet, gonna make a few changes this weekend ( mainly arm sweep, roll centers, and droop). If it's not setup right after that, then i'll consider changing my setup to the one posted above. Buggy feels good in the bumps and jumps, but it seems a bit squirelly in the turns.
btw, what kind of track conditions is the setup above for? I run on an outdoor low-medium traction, bumpy 8th scale track.

Great suggestion.
I'd also add, if your radio or ESC have current limit or traction control options make use of them. I'm using 85% current limit, but I also use traction control on my radio which slows down how fast the throttle is applied.

Curtis' setup is supposed to be a good all around setup. Right now the track we race at is medium traction, fairly smooth with a combination of fast sweepers, big rolling hills, a couple big jumps and 180 turns.
At the end of last year I was looking for more on power steering for the sweepers, now the track has a loose dusty top and I'm trying to keep the rear end in line.

Also to the guys having trouble getting there setup right...which tires/compound/track are you running on...I feel that 50% at least is about tire choice...also expo is your friend with a car with this much steering
I haven't seen any traction rolling unless I'm running low camber in the rear...anything over 1 degree stops it though.

Also I run all outdoor big tracks some of them have great grip others not mostly clay tracks and some a little more sand, traction goes from super, traction rolls and all to loose depending on how much water is used during the day.
I find driving this thing almost like a 2wd works best for me in the corners, the thing is so fast off power I can drive into the turn with min braking, roll through off power then back on after the apex. That's how I drive my 2wd cars anyways.

looking forward to seeing what Tekno does to provide even more toe in than what is available like what we have with the SCT410. wonder if that would help when it gets squirelly.

This is what I started with from my build and still pretty close to this setup. Its for outdoor low traction track. FYI needs more pack Working on it!! Current changes run long wheel base. 7k diff in front Running orange tekno springs front and red in rear.

That's exactly what i was going to try doing this weekend. Less droop = less contact with track during cornering = equals less grip. Gotta find an ideal balance of grip and bump handling. I might also mess around with the rear upper link to see if i like a different roll center setting.

I got my motor and esc today, tekin 1900kv and Lrp ix8. I was planning on getting the rx8 but its been out of stock everywhere and I don't feel like waiting another month. Anyway, I just took the buggy outside in the street quickly and WOW is it fast! The one thing I noticed is that when I stab the throttle, the buggy pulls to the left a little. It's not the steering trim, I have that set properly. The street has a lot of that sealant/crack filler in it so its a little slippery. Does this sound normal or is something screwed up?
