Heya Guys, I'm right in the middle of the build, and the manual keeps saying transmission grease. Is this the grease in the small circular container?
This looks like diff lube to me, not transmission grease.
The grease in my Losi was dark, this stuff is almost clear.

And do I put it on the plastic/metal gear mesh teeth inside the diff?

The little round jar labelled grease is what you use for driveshafts and the ring & pinion gear. NOT inside the diff. Fill the diff with diff fluid that is included in the kit.

I like it.

So when I was reading earlier in this thread, many ppl were trying to find an aluminum servo saver to work with this car. Did Serpent ever come out with one because there is one listed on Amain by serpent?

Anyone tried this?

I believe the part they were referring to was the arm and lever set. There has been some interest in an aluminum version of this part. I'm not sure if it has been considered or not. Stay tuned!

Thanks but I'm not talking about inside the diffs. I mean inside the transmission box, where the the pinion meets the larger gear wheel.

There is no other grease in my kit other the the small round jar labeled grease.

I took some transmission grease from my Losi kit to use.
And I put it on the plastic/metal gear mesh teeth inside the diff, correct?

Also one of my a-arms is binding, it doesn't flop up and down freely. I thought I remember back in this thread earlier about drilling those out. Or perhaps a little light oil? Any suggestions?

As well there is some slop moving forward and back on both of these a arms, no shims? Is this normal?

Ordered the buggy, and ....
Amain have got Rx8 and T8 1900 combo back in stock

Vortexted 03-04-2012 11:07 AM

I added a little light shock oil to the hinge pin and now the a arm moves more freely. It must have been a different thread I read about drilling out the aarms .1 mm bigger to make them move up and down more freely.

Also light oil on some of the screws has been a huge help with this build.
Good idea who ever posted that early on.

his is my first season with ebuggy and it will be great to have good base setup before i'll build the car.

Vortexted 03-04-2012 02:34 PM

I'm Still waiting on Team Serpent driver Frank to post his set up from The Dirt Nitro Challenge :)
Any other racers here race the DNC? The track is SICK...its where do most of my racing.

I have a ? in the build again. Step 16A shows a M5x4 grub screw going down inside the rear axle/hub carrier and to use loctite. Yet there is nothing in there threaded to screw it in to, doesn't make sense. help please.

porkchop 03-04-2012 02:43 PM

the set screw threads into the axle that holds the pin
you push the hex over then push in the pin then add the screw in the axle

as for set up
i testing a few things let me go test it in race pace and i get back to with you something dialed

Vortexted 03-04-2012 02:49 PM

Great thanks..I figured it out. The larger M5 size was eluding my eyes and I was trying to put to small of a grub screw in there. Thanks for answering. :)

seajack 03-04-2012 03:46 PM

Thanks porkchop, i'll be waiting.
My kit arrives in wednesday, and i need to order some parts, oils etc.

The jar of grease is what you can use on the ring and pinion gear. I like using Mobile 1 grease.

Is your arms binding with it assembled with everything else? If it's ur rear arm, check the outer captured hinge pin on the the upright. When that's being tightened, it can squeeze the plastic. Make sure there is a little slop. Also check the sway bar, where it's attached to the a-arm. If that big nut is too tight it will bind.

bkuff-losi 03-04-2012 07:32 PM

would the lrp 2200 motor be to much for the buggy...i am new to electric

HotBodiesVe8Boy 03-04-2012 08:06 PM

yes 2200kv motor is to much for racing anywhere on 4s period.
also i was having a look on amain through parts and noticed this and then noticed they don't have it for the 811-t or just the 811.

Is this a optional chassis? SER600470 Serpent 811e Hard Anodized Chassis

Is this the stock chassis? SER600445 Serpent S811e Chassis

thank you
