SC10 4x4 Thread

Im starting to question my choice on this truck. Thinking I should have maybe went with the losi. I hear the losi drives more like a 1/8 buggy which is what I race normally. I did run the truck on a track for the first time this past weekend and made one lap. Yeah one lap, truck was so twitchy and seemed to handle so bad I pulled it off the track. Plus this pin mod thing, I would think if I did that mod it would make the truck worse for me. May have this truck in the for sale section soon
1 ----- 2 mills shim of bump steer
2 ------5 mills shim to C hub on the camber rod end
3------sway bars medium front and rear
4------bought and installed FT shock bodies and FT shock shafts and the shocks i run the small hole pistons front and rear and installed track star O rings . the front is AE 30 wt and the the rear is AE 25 wt oil (really keeps the truck settled down)
5------bought and installed MTK slipper basket
6------front diff fluid 12,000 rear 7000
7------moved the rear outer camber rod to the outer most hole on the hub
and shimmed the rear shock tower ball stud by 2 mills
8-----installed the front over drive pulley
equipment installed in the truck are tekin RX8 pro4 4000 540 geared at 62 13 10% timing , currant limiter set at 75% brakes at 50% with the radio adjustments for forward percentage down to 110 from 150% drive
FWI the losi trucks at the last race i was at was turning fast laps of 13.2 and i was turning 12.6 second laps
the next thing i am changing is pinning the front slipper

Thanks CraigMBA, that would make sense.
Now I got to finally drive it and while it performs awesome the esc got to 200*F within the first 5-7 minutes of driving. Ambient temp was cool around 70-70*F. My setup is a Castle MMP esc and a Tekin 550 4.5 motor geared 14/62. Motor never got past 175*F. I thought my gearing was pretty safe being a 14 tooth pinion but it looks like I may have to drop it down to 12 or so. Other than that and maybe tweaking my steering expo a little this thing is awesome. My wife just drove the Losi SCTE the first time as well and for her she loved it. We swapped half way through the run and before we finished a lap we swapped back. The Losi to me feels more solid and can be driven pretty hard while the SC10 feels more nimble like it's tippy toeing around the track. Since my wife loves driving her truggy I figured the Losi would be best for her and it was. Anyways what do you guys think about my heat issue because usually we drive during the day and being in San Diego the temps are usually hotter.
Thanks
Terry
EDIT: I have no fan on the esc because I switched sides for the battery and electronics due to fitment issues so I cut the top of the esc off to fit.

yeah really. When it would almost spin out in every corner and just plain suck to drive yeah I pulled it off. And I had the correct tire for the track. So yeah. I have been racing for 10 years and this by far was the worst handling vehicle I have ever ran out of the box to date. Not saying it wont get better, but not impressed to say the least so far.
I have not had a chance to try the pined shaft yet, but I will.

They went to the trouble to comment on the standard decoupled slipper.
That means...people, the pin is a tuning device! Use it! Hot Rod during the Reedy race was blue groove and high bite (compared to what I run on which would be packed and dusty). Obv. Ryan liked the decoupled slipper because it gives the truck more steering off power. I think.
Overdriven front end, huh...

So they 'are' doing exactly what you guys are. (I don't use a basket)
And it even says in the notes "Standard decoupled slipper" almost pointing at specifically 'not' using a pinned slipper.
Very interesting.

I am starting to think maybe I have some timing on the motor. When I got it I took the rear screws off and put some loctite on them. At that time I didn't even think about the position of the rear plate. Also I have the esc set to medium power. Now I know the timing would create heat but would the medium esc setting?
