I've not had a single solitary reason to swap out the shock O rings nor the dif seals. They hold liquids where they belong and slide well enough now that they have settled in.

Instead, I've focused on helping the thing do what I want it to, the way I want it to, one step at a time. You know, setup. With the final addition of the spring kits, my SC104x is just as fast around the track as anything else. I ran a few packs last Friday afternoon and I recall thinking to myself that it was if it were gliding across the track like an antelope across the plain.

This is a great truck. I know you all are just trying to make it better, but why not give the truck time to come to you, instead of forcing it tommold to some ideal?

Umm kay, why would you not want buttery smooth shocks. Trackstar o-rings are insanely smooth even when new. I don't believe you should have to wait for a shock o-ring to break in lol. Give em a try, they're the cheapest bang for your buck for performance hands down.

my 2 cents

+1...In all my years of racing never have I "waited for my car to come around" & break in to how it's set up. Racing is about setting your car up to your best ability then running it to get better & better lap times and hopefully win the race your in.

have you tried the single o ring setup that was posted by some of the team drivers? thats how i run mine and it got extremely smooth once u eliminated one o ring.

I agree with John but I take it as learn how to drive the truck first. You cannot drive it like the durango, ofna, Losi etc. Sure, you tweak things based on your style but the truck is really like an onroad car IMHO and if you are smooth, you will benefit.

These are my observation from racing this last weekend. I own both a Losi SCTE and a AE SC10 4X4. I practiced both trucks and ran faster laptimes during practice with the SC10 4X4, so I decided to run the SC10 4X4 in the first qualifier. At my track the mix of 4X4 SC truck is about 50% Losi and 50% AE. We start the first qualifier in alphabetical order by last name, no IFMAR so I'm about the middle of the pack. I was "bumped" 4 times by Losis the first lap and wound up in last at the end of the first lap. I'm not complaining, thats just how it is in SC racing. You give a little and you get a little. Here's my observation. My AE always got the worst of it I assume becasue it's almost 30% lighter than a Losi. I put the Losi out for the 2nd qualifier, starting in the very back because of the resort. This time with the Losi I wasn't pushed around and was able to go from last place to second. I put the AE out for the third qual and start second on the grid. All is good at the start, I passed the Losi truck in front of me clean and all is good until I get into lap traffic and the Losi tanks were able to do the same thing again.
I love the technology AE has built into the SC10 4X4 (and part of that is relatively light weight), but current motor and battery technology allows much, much heavier trucks to run the same speed. With the culture of SC racing, I just don't know if the AEs technology is going to be able to overcome the brute force of the heavy weights.
FYI... I ran the Losi in the main and came in second behind another Losi.

The issues that you give people the hand and they pick the arm.

I mean, a little bumping is okay, SC racing has this sort of things.

What you can't do is simply ram against the cars that are passing you for the lulz, and because your truck is heavier.

You don't see people ramming each other in ROAR nats, p.ex

Or you don't see people ramming each other AT ALL in buggy racing, at any level of competition.

When it's not high competition, SC racing is a basherfest, where the heavier and sturdier truck wins (Destruction Derby anyone?).

In races where AE dominate there's not that much bashing, basically because us, AE drivers, know that the SC10 4x4 is very light, and with a small bump it rolls over the track.

yea I call it the losi tap. everyone I've raced that races a Losi likes to pit maneuver you. maybe those heavy things just can't stop. Idk. but when i do horrible most of the time it because i was put into a pipe. which sucks because 90% of SC trucks are losi at my track. and some are going to Losi so they don't get TAPPED i refuse to buy a losi
