Forgot

My truck weights 5.2 lbs body , tires & shorty..

all of it makes for speed you will appreciate when leading or chasing the other trucks ....:deathstar

ricky

you will never become a winner by giving up and trying to buy instead of working & earning the reward of victory....

Don't get me wrong, I really like it, handles great and is relatively durable but now that all my diff fluid has leaked out of the rear diff I'll probably park it for a while. It's a pta to take the entire rear end apart and rebuild the diff. I do enjoy tuning and fixing but I would rather have more wheel time then wrench time. It's a shame to because I had it dialed pretty well for our track and it screams down the main straight on two wheels with the pro4 4600 and 14t pinion.

I think this is an area that AE can improve, access to the diffs. A few changes here and there and they would be golden.

I'd be curious to see how that diff comes apart for that 1/8 buggy that looks like a clone of the SC10 4x4.

Nice mods George. How much would you say your lap times have improved with all these mods? I'm curious because my truck is ridiculously good already. My driving isn't all that good so I don't think any of this would help me lol.

Wild Cherry 05-17-2013 11:44 AM

Jstall your worth the changes , will only help you have more fun .

For me lap times are difficult to pin down due to changing track conditions.

But I believe about a .3 or a .4 sec a lap improvement

Can say the truck will be much faster on the corner , jump & landings.

Will be easy to notice when driving the first time out...

Do these changes work ?

* you be a 1lb or more lighter then the others
* have the Quad Pad VTS
*be able run your truck lower then the rest (19.5mm)
* more agility on tight corners
* easier jumping & landings
* motor & ESC run cooler & become more efficient using less power
*lower center of gravity allows you to take sweeper's way faster ...

interesting info there WC.

So I take it the extra weight of the quad pad slipper is outweighed by its performance?

Considering how much lighter the truck is, wouldn't that help make the VTS 3 pad setup even more relative since you have much less weight it needs to act upon?

Would be curious what the weight difference is between the VTS 3 pad, 4 Pad, and RC Shox Center Diff.

Lasty, how is the weight comparison to the prolite you were pretty hepped up on not too long ago? Has the performance gap closed now between the two based on what you stated before about the prolite?

Maybe there is some merit in making a version of the sct 4x4 class that takes it back to its original intentions without the heavies? Having an upper weight limit. That way, these kind of designs are not pushed around so easily at the track from what is being reported by people who own the lighter vehicles.

I would say the weight is a big differents I broke my track record 2 times in the same test laps by .5 switching to a shorty PAC as for the 4 pad I don't like the slipper in 4wd amp limit works better v2 dif 8 pins :)

Did back to back testing on a large 1/8 outdoor track yesterday. Ran with the vst and then the ball diff. It was night and day difference. The ball diff was 10 times better hands down. I was faster and more consistent with the ball diff. It jumped further and I had a lot more in air control. It powered out of a turn like my rc8.2e does. I WILL NOT BE GOING BACK TO THE SLIPPER. THE BALL DIFF WAS THAT MUCH BETTER. I have been running this truck since the day it was released. So I'm not a noob with it and I'm an A main driver.

so I just completed the servo mod and upon changing out the factory linkage as well I was able to move the servo forward 2.5mm also

ovalosi 05-17-2013 05:27 PM

also can someone give me a precise measurement on the length of the pins in the rcshox diff thanks

sugs 05-17-2013 06:32 PM

Looks good Cherry, did you change springs with loosing the weight?

Wild Cherry 05-17-2013 06:48 PM

@ the track

Thank You Sug

Still using yellow springs all around

Lower ride height is the biggest change

Promise detail setup info soon.

Geo, I switched to the 1.3's with losi 40wt all around. You may want to try it, and tell me what you think.
