Have you checked your mesh after stripping? Make sure that your motor isn't moving on you. I am on my 4th series with my truck and still using the original spur. Also, maybe make sure that you are not missing any screws or bolts after the diff change in the rear... it is a bit more complicated than most trucks and the whole rear diff/gearbox is kind of one unit. If a bolt is missing, you may get just enough deflection to cause stripping?

Building my FT SC10 4x4 and can't figure out what I am doing wrong. I am trying to put the VTS slipper together. It seems the outer hub doesn't sit low enough on the shaft for it to clamp the slipper clutches and spur gear?? What gives? I slides over the squared off part of the trans shaft maybe 1/8 inch then bottoms out. There isn't even enough threads to get the nut on with the spring and washer installed. Would not even matter since the outer hub isn't hold tight against the clutches. Is this some kinda machining error or am I missing something?

Doubt its a machine error...

check to see if the rear pad has moved out of place on the spur gear

also
The outer disk has to clear the keyed slot on the top shaft & the squared off inside of the middle slipper disk ( thin steel disk) ...

Thank. If I take off the spur and slipper and try and install the outer hub it will will only go on about an 1/8 inch. Thats with lining up the keyed sides. Hmmmm..

Problem solved. I had to dremel out the inside of the hub a very small amount. Looks like there was some left over machining material that needed to come out.

I had to use a body reamer on a couple plastic parts, but all-in-all it went together really smooth.

Try searching this thread for "bad tech" and see what you get.

Jeez,
This is a rc forum were not chizeling commandments on stone in here. Things change and evolve, especially with this truck. There is good tech and bad tech being vomited repeatedly day in and day out here. For the most part he is right on with this truck, and obsessively laps people every day.
He has answered hundreds of teck q's in here an helped countless people.

Got my Factory Team SC 10 4x4 on the track and ran three batteries through the truck and I am getting a clicking noise out of the rear of the truck. I filled the rear diff with diff grease I am wondering if that has something to do with it. I also has a Team SC 10 4x4 that I have probably 40+ packs on it and have no issues. I filled the rear diff on this truck with diff fluid. Any thoughts?

Truck served me well. Won me a lot of races.

Most likely need to add a shim behind the sun gear in the diff. Or add a thicker shim

Cain 12-31-2012 09:52 AM

what thickness are you running for shims in the rear diff including any shim under the diff cup?

I'm not sure either but had the same issue at my last race and the rear end stopped working. Im guessing either a bad idler gear or diff may have blew up. I'll be investigating it this afternoon and try and report back

Cain 12-31-2012 10:03 AM

if bad enough, you may need new gears.

ryanpatrickgore 12-31-2012 10:12 AM

+1 for Cain too.
Very helpful in here

Thanks rpg!

One thing I would suggest for anyone new to the thread, be open to trying out things people suggest. We all may feel, "strongly" about what we are suggesting, but If what we suggest doesn't work for you, don't be afraid to report back on it.
