So, ThunderbirdJunkie has noticed that with tons of pages, nobody has touched on the single biggest improvement on this truck over previous AE cars.
IT HAS REAL BODY PINS.
THANK YOU! Finally!

I asked the same question awhile back and got no answer. I put a thin layer of the black grease on each surface. It should have said that in the assembly manual. But this is not the "norm" for a truck from Associated as well as the truck itself isnt what Associated builds. I hope my first experience with this truck on the track tommorrow is better than the build experience of this truck was.

anyone have trouble running the 48 pitch spur? I'm stripping the teeth under deceleration/braking and a little under acceleration. I checked gear mesh and I was good, just think these teeth can't hold.
Looks like I may be going to 32pitch for good insurance.
16/62 with a CC3800 kv sound right?

Hey Jeff, I have run mine 2 race days with a practice run before each day and have had no problems with the 48 pitch gears. Are you running a 540 or 550? The 550 may be too much power for a 48 pitch gear.

Anyone running a novak ballistic 4.5 550 with the 14mm rotor? I'm on the fence whether to run the 4.5 with the stock rotor, the 14mm rotor or just scrap that idea an get a 5.5 (considering a tekin if going 5.5). I'll be running this with an RX8 esc.
Gearing on the stock rotor using the manual's recommended 12t pinion seemed to be on the slow side, 13t would probably be better. If going with the 14mm rotor I'd have to pick up at least a 16t, 17t pinions, probably need higher?

hey guys. this is the first time I thought a thread was quality enough to join in on. some good info here. (took a month but I've read all 183 pages). I wanted to comment on the spur stripping issue a few posts back. I had the exact same issue and I swore it was something wrong with the truck. turns out I had gotten the inner slipper pad indexed so it was not seated in the hex on the spur. this allowed enough flex to let the spur pull away from the pinion upon hard braking and round over some teeth. worth looking into. also you guys with servo centering issues....I also had a problem until I realized the servo was sliding side to side in the adjustment slots. I had to tighten as hard as I could with allen driver to prevent this from happening. hope this helps somebody

Anyone have any suggestions for how to fit the 17T pinions onto the truck? I can't seem to get an Allen Key in there at an appropriate angle to tighten it down, and it is too big to fit through the hole in the motor plate....
Also, in case anyone was wondering....the slipper pads fit the GT2 54T spur, but without modifying the motor plate, there is no way to get the 17T pinion close enough to mesh. (you'd probably also have to shave off some of the chassis and transmission case too...but I didn't bother looking that closely yet...)
