AE has bigger fish to fry with the B5 since next year is a Worlds year. |
One could say AE is ALWAYS working on the next "project". The cars they produce don't come over night. New designs, R&D, prototypes are happening everyday.

Some add thicker shims. See if that one is bent worn out etc. I doubled mine up. Do a search on this thread to see what whims other guys used.

The factory supplied shims for these diffs are just the beginning of what needs to be installed in my opinion. How can anything be mass produced and expected to use same shims to achieve proper clearances across the board. It is impossible for quality control to be that tight on something we are purchasing this cheap. The diffs will have to be looked at closely and shimmed accordingly for the correct operation and life of diff. If you are building diffs with supplied shims only, expect failures. I have a original FT RC8 that I am still using original ring and pinions, side and planet gears with original washers. This is because I tear down everything, new or not, and put my fianl touches on it. I build automotive transmissions, differentials, engines, etc. for a living in a dealership so this is not new territory, just smaller scale of what I have been doing for a while now:nod:

I feel the current platform works great. I raced on a loose blown out outdoor track last week with my SC10 4x4 and TQd both rounds of qualifying by a lap over the fastest Losi and won the main by 1/2 a lap. (had to change my line and in the main because the wind came up) |
the body fits. I'm pretty sure the new breed of production kits for 4wd sct will have beefy drivetrains from the 1/8 scale stuff. It adds durability.

The conversion experiment is already fail if you ask me ....
no steering , too much weight , with 2s they are slow . only way they even keep up is with more cells (4s) anyone with some 1/8th scale experience would know ... |

I have run an electric RC8 and my SC10 4x4 along with a Losi, Durango, Traxxas, Jammin 4wd SC on the same track and there is no comparison. The smaller chassis trucks get around much better on smaller to med size 1/10 scale tracks. (I say this because its what I race on:) ) If everyone wants a bigger Short Course class to take off on the bigger 1/8 scale tracks then they should go out and get the Team Associated SC8. Get their Losi buddies to put a 8T chassis on their 8 buggy, add a SC8 body, wheels, and tires to it then have at it.:) I think that would be fun. I wish the bigger SCs took off but they never did :) |

The market is there . you will have too use 4s , only way ..... and when the guys with the conversion use the 4s ? They can blast right by on the straight, but on the infield they can't turn and are slow due to no corner sp from the extra weight ... Hope U understand Jeff , I have racing those things bout 2 month & guess what ? Manage quite well against ....:deathstar:D |
