Since it's enclosed I'd probably get a bearing with metal shields for it such as: http://www.avidrc.com/product/8/metr...-bearings.html :) |
Looking to make a chassis brace...
I've searched this thread but it's huge...found lots of pics of people's homemade brace's but no instructions... A link would be great? Thanks. LIP |

Marcus:
PRCR has a giant (not as big as the one you were battling) double i'm hitting about 75% of the time. This damn truck, full ESC Brake, 150% reverse travel in radio. Tips "MAYBE" 2 inches in the air when I give it brake. The fkn losi's can tip 6 inches up or down with instant feedback. With much practice, I was hitting it "acceptably" but it wasn't smooth by any means. God I wish this thing would rotate in the air. Cameron, How were you doing? Just alot of practice and hitting it's sweet spot every time? Or making up the blunder jump in the corners? |
Thinking about getting into racing for fun again but don't want to invest allot of $$
How is the sc 4x4 RTR kit? I would throw some good tires and a good lipo in and call it good I would be racing indoors at a small track in Portland,or |
I was at PRCR all day today, Open to close practicing on their huge indoor double layout.
http://img33.imageshack.us/img33/125...2151729174.jpg about the 3rd pack, it clicked and I started making some big air, and slowly increasing my Percentile of success. The problem I had was not with the lineup and launch, but with the landing, being so nose high, I would tail over on landing so often, it made a FAST lap very frustrating. On a Odd note: I broke my Servo Saver? :weird: Was dumbfounded when I saw it had exploded when I was having someone else drive it. It was driven hard today, but not even close to how hard I run at our free outdoor track, was just amazed. All in all. GREAT day. My personal setup worked great, I just need that onpower steering. I didnt tune at all today, only drove drove drove. |

The only problem I had was sometimes was jumping too far, and on landing the truck would bounce from landing with full brakes. Trick is to jump, arch, and land 3 ft. before the corner, brake hard-turn-rotate, blip the trottle, brake-turn-rotate, and blast over the next set of jumps. Simple. :D |

My set-up was pretty good after I ditched the under tray. The Losi trucks do land it better but have a harder time with the "S" turn right after you land. That is a hold back jump. Your speed up to the jump takes you over it, just before you leave the face of the jump you let off. The truck will naturally arch in the air. It does take practice and hard to master. I have a lot less brakes but I can change the truck in the air to a point.

Smooth and aggressive was much better, kept the nose lower, but I was having a hard time either getting the distance to take the "actual" relief pad, or landing on my ass. Or, like you said, Flopping over myself under full brake. was very interesting to say the least. Still Fun. There were a bunch of newbs there in the morning, not even chancing it. (slashers) and I threw down, went around and nailed it perfect the first time. (didn't happen again for 10 laps after that, mind you) and got cheers. It was pretty funny. On a serious note: That jump is Far too dangerous for Marshals. The kid I was with actually caught one coming at him (he was in the designated location for a marshal) I almost went to the hospital from a Broken Skull from a Losi 4x4 if he hadn't seen it coming the last second. No joke. |

Kudo's on some originality though. |
It's nice to have kids to flip cars on practice days but you have to watch them on the track more than your own truck. Just part of Sunday practice there. Sadly most people have more power than common sense when it come to slowing down for kids and crashes.

but this was at the Marshal ' X ' . Kids were standing, paying full attention, not moving, and having to dodge trucks hitting the back wall. It was scary. While people laughed about it, I was shaking my head. It's too bad. I would stop for marshals, I don't dart around them. I'd then as if clockwork, be rear-ended by some guy at fullspeed, then get a grunt from the guy who did it. Are you KIDDING me!? (btw, i'm not advocating for it's removal. only scared for the kids) Btw: I heard 4x4 is not doing so hot. I'll be down there as much as possible to help with some competition. (or in other words, just another guy to pass) |
