Just thought i'd share my findings with you all, thanks for all the tips. BTW only two guys are still running the SC104X4 here, a few changed to Losi.
You running any advanced timing with that combo or is it at stock setting which I think is 10 degrees?

I am assuming you mean quiet in comparison to other SCT 4x4s.

It was quieter than my 1/8 electric. I guess I am just not used to the noise as from what someone else said, it sounded fine from what they had seen of another SC104x4.

Anyone know of a vid where someone was bench testing an SC104x4. that probably would help.

For your MMP setup, are you using a BEC or cap, or both?

Thanks for the info. Where did you pickup the Fantom packs?

Anyone have first hand experience with these packs:

I picked this up used but it didn't look like it had much time at all on it. So maybe that is the case.

The pinion gear appears to be a novak pinion , 32P gears. maybe that is part of it too the pitch.

I got some time on my hands so I may give it a full teardown and rebuild.

I have to say I was pretty impressed with it. using some of the recommended changes for carpet and the tires I had on hand, it jumps very nice and lands plush. No bounce etc but still goes through the ripple sections like they are not there.

Just had a tiny bit of traction roll but I am thinking maybe stiffer swaybar or some other minor change, but it was so barely noticeable compared to how it ran.

the Exotek chassis is money. Very impressed there too.

Question on belt setup: When you check tension, I believe the manual says like 3mm to 5mm drop when you push down on the belt (going from memory here). What are you guys seeing for real world usage on how you are setting your belt?

Agreed. 80% of my noise was from the original stock slipper screaming at me. Once I got that fixed up, it was almost as quiet as my 2wd.

Having a hard time finding the Exotek chassis. Any recommendations on where to buy for best price?

adjust the slipper properly & you should only hear it slip a little for about 2 or 3 ft when accelerating ...

PS , new Ae slipper will be here real soon .....

So why did you change to Saddles? Do you like the change what did it bring you? I have a Exotec with std battery in stock location and added weight to rear sides and rear battery side. Trucks still about 1 second off the fast guys at my local track i am still a little green driving, but i was curious to if centering the weight was good? I have a Novak 550 or 540 Can motor and HV pro speed controller which is a monster. So i felt like my motor side weight was heavier than my battery weight. I guess i should weigh the stuff separate to find out real deal on the weight balance

I have the clutch basket setup, with 2 HD pads in the basket and a stock one on the gear.

I may take a vid or something of what I am hearing. In a way it just reminds of me of the old TAO2 from back in the day when everything was running.

These work fine. They are just as good as my SMC packs. Great punch and runtime is right around 20 minutes. Lets see how long they last. If you order these you should pony up for the UPS 3 day shipping(not really 3 day more like 7). It will cost about 40.00 depending on the weight of what you get but you will receive them much quicker than the cheapest shipping method.
