I don't like Tekin. Just so you know my bias.

I have a guy at our track that runs Tekin that told me the pro4's were having heat issues at the last big race he attended. He won't run the pro4 but he uses their 550 2 pole stuff.

I would go with the 4000, it would be PLENTY motor for a medium track and should be good for a big track as well, thats what I will be going with some time down the road... You will not be dissappointed, they are insane from what I have seen!

I run the tein pro4 4000kv with a HB 120av2 esc in my scte. It is plenty fast has great power and runs within temp ranges.

here is a linke to A1 at the last race I went to where I was tq and won both a mains. 2nd-4th were all running the teking 4600kv motors.

Any motor will have heating issues if you dont gear it correctly . I used to run a Novak 4.5T 550 and never had the heat issues some other guys had cause I dont over gear my stuff to run on the ragged edge .

True and I don't know the details other then he told me multiple pro4's were suffering. Like I said, this is from a guy running their gear.

The Tekin Pro4/RX8 combo is by far the coolest running setup I have run. I was running the Castle 3800/MMP and that combo was very good also. I ran on a quite large 1/8 scale track this weekend with a pretty long straight full throttle. I came off the 7 min. main at 155 motor and 120 ESC. That is with a 15t pinion in the truck. I would not sniff that temps with the Castle setup. There are 2 other guys at our track with them and they run very cool also. I run Ty Campbell's setup and it is perfect for the truck. In amy 5 min. heat the fan never comes on on the ESC. However, my Losi is pretty light compared to stock!

A lot of racers try too eek out every little bit of performance out of their systems , while this does get you a faster car it also takes its toll on the motor system , sure you can run a motor at 180+ but for how long , gear it down till temps are manageable and if its not fast enough for you then you bought the wrong motor and need to try a faster one (but hotter motors usually have a smaller gearing range) IMO .

MOST of the time you dont need any more speed than 35-40 mph at most tracks and and all of the current motor systems designed for heavier cars can do that in the current 4x4SCT's on 2s .

I use the pro 4 4000 on a small 20 sec lap indoor track, has a 14 tooth on and temped it at 175 but im always on the throttle hard. I then put a 12 on and had close to 160, slapped a fan on the moter and took it easy on the throttle and drove for around 8 minutes and came of the track at 137. A fan on it cant hurt if your heavy on the throttle. Nice lil motor i would of got the 4600 but none were in stock. Love the 4000 for small to medium tracks and can only imagine what the 4600 could do on a large track.

On a side note salads a really great dude and would do almost any thing to help fellow racers i know this first hand as he went way out of his way to help me and i live in canada. 1000 respekts bro.
Dont let the masses do to you like they did to tiger woods lol
Keep on truckin pal ?:@)

Quick ???'s I am not a Losi owner and not here to bash. I have a Hyper 10sc 4x4. Like the losi it has frt mid and rr gear diff's. Why do people use grease instead of diff fluid? Does that change the handling of the truck? Also, for some reason my truck is loud....no gear grinding, just loud. I assume the noise comes from the 3 diff's meshing together or the drive shafts (not sure). Would shimming the drive shafts help quiet down the truck?
I tried going to the hyper 10sc thread but hardly anyone goes there which makes it hard to get answers.

i run the rx8/pr04 4000kv setup on a medium sized 1/8 track. has a few straights the longest being about 80ft. In hot/humid weather (about 85-90f) and dry dusty track conditions it will come off a 10 min main at like 180f. when the temp cools down to about 70f it will drop way down.

i had the 4.5 hi-torque novak for one practice and it got hot quick, i like the pro4 way better than anything else ive seen. Deff the way to go in this truck.
