Wish we had a Local TLR driver at LHR . I`ll start out with rear and after I get it where I like it I`ll try mid for a while . If work gets busy this spring maybe I`ll have two cars with different setups

No extra needed. It comes with everything you need in the box to convert it to mid motor. Shock tower , tranny case , extra gears , wing mounts , extra small pieces. You also get 2 sets of front wheels and 2 sets of rear wheels.

I think he means to do it quickly, like to test in practice or heats. I plan on buying a whole rear clip minus the shocks. Arms, hinge pins, gearcase, rear shock tower, you get the point. Hopefully 6 or so screws, switch the shocks, chnge the body. But the esc? If I use the shelf?! Hmm.

Yeah that's what I meant . It looks like I will need a motor plate , diff ,idler gear , top shaft , slipper set up and bearings anything else besides the body .

So the local TLR driver at my home track raced his 22 for the first time this weekend. His car looked really good. It was cool to get my hands on a 22. One question for the guys in the know. Does the 22 come with carbide main diff balls?

I don't think so. All they say is "hard"

I want carbide for the main diff balls. Ceramic is harder, so it handles pressure better, but it is also more slippery. Because of this you need to run the diff tighter to get it to not slip if you run ceramic main balls. Ceramic works better in the thrust bearing as it sees higher pressure. Last year at Mid-West Champs I had the opportunity to talk diffs with Fred from B-fast, this is where I learned about the ceramic vs. carbide.

Honestly after watching it run mid-engine on an outdoor rough track, just about sold me.
The track wasn't rough at all, it was blue groove with some light dust in certain corners. Just clearing things up, when you say rough outdoor track people are going to think of a lower traction situation. IMO

When switching from rear to mid motor or vice versa, would it be safe to assume that the dampening may need to be different?

And would that be something else to consider in the parts list if someone is thinking of an instant flip of the motor trans configuration? Rear shocks and springs or even rears and fronts?

Frank, you're dialing in your mid setup now, can you give us some input on what changes we might be wanting to consider?

Nice run today by the way.
